Saints Get Extra Leeds Allocation

Saints look set to take their biggest ever following to Elland Road.

Having already sold 1,300 of the current allocation of 1,700, Saints have requested a further tranche of tickets for the game at Leeds United on December 19th, meaning that they could have as many as 2,800 fans at the game.

Although I think that Saints wont sell the entire amount, its already looking like this will be the biggest total of fans to travel to Elland Road to see Saints.

For some reason Elland Road has never been a place that Saints fans have visited in numbers, maybe its the ghosts of the 7-0 defeat back in 1972 or the fact that it one of the most inhospitable grounds to visit for an away fan but we just never seem to go there in any numbers.

Even the League Cup semi final in 1979 did not see a great number of Saints fans travel, the weather was attrocious in the weeks leading to the game with heavy snows etc, so than meant that only about 1,500 travelled.

Leeds in typical 1970's style as was their custom at the time, did not take the surrender of a two goal lead to Saints lightly and after the game, large gangs of them aattacked any Saints fans they could find, men, women, children, cars, coaches, mini buses, anything that they could find they attacked.

So its good to see that Saints will finally beat that 1979 total on the 19th, hopefully this generation will find that Leeds supporters have moved on several decades and whilst not actually welcoming Saints fans, wont resort to physical violence.
