West Brom have been linked with a summer swoop for Sam Byram. Do Leeds' new owners GFH Capital have the resolve to keep him?

West Brom are the latest club to be linked with starlet Sam Byram.

Byram, 19, has emerged as one of the countries brightest young defenders and has been a shining light in what has been a largely dull season at Leeds.

Although the York-born defender has recently agreed a new three-year deal there are fears that a Premiership predator will swoop for him sooner rather than later.

Speculation intensified when West Brom boss Steve Clarke admitted he was at Leicester City's King Power Stadium on Tuesday night to run the rule over a couple of targets, one believed to be Byram the other City's winger Ben Marshall.

Clarke also admitted that he feared bigger Premiership clubs would be in for his targets,

Even if he wasn't there to watch Byram, the youngster would have caught his eye as arguably he was our most potent attacking threat and capped a fine performance with a well-taken goal in Leeds 1-1 draw in the East Midlands.

As well as questions over what investment GFH Capital plan to move the club up to the next level, the issue of them being able to keep our prized-assets is another big question they have to face.

We will never get anywhere if Leeds keep selling their tallent. Forget some of the recent sales and look at the academey youngsters that have left ER. Delph, Millner, Howson etc. Now we have more youngser coming through to join Byram as a force at LUFC. If we sell Byram we may as well pack in, because it is clear then that we will sell of all of our other young talent. I would not like to be in GFH's shoes if Byram goes. They will be hated more than Bates, if that is possible!
