Dale will welcome Hartlepool in the season's opening fixture after the FL designated Dale v Hartlepool as one of six special games to celebrate the Football League's 125th anniversary.

The game is given special status as it is the most celebrated game in the whole of the Football League, given that it has been played more than any other current FL fixture in those 125 years, with 136 previous meetings between the two clubs.

And as such, it has been released twenty four hours early as one of six special 125th anniversary games to take place on the opening weekend of the season. The other games are: Newport v Accrington, Burnley v Bolton, Derby v Blackburn, PNE v Wolves and Sheff United v Notts County.

It is expected that this game will take place on Saturday 3rd August with a 3pm kick off, but this is subject to confirmation at this stage.

The rest of the fixtures will be released at 9am on Wednesday morning.
