Tottenham v Swansea - What Are They Saying?
Saturday, 24th Aug 2013 06:18

The Swans travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday for the first away trip of their Premier League season and looking to put the disappointment of last Saturday's 4-1 defeat at the Liberty behind them and put their first points of the season on the board.

Both sides scored five in midweek in Europe to just about secure their progress through to the group stage of the Europa League that should give both sides the chance to play their strongest line ups on Sunday and make for an interesting game that is hard to predict.

The Swans know that a tough test awaits them at a ground where they have never won but are not defeated before a ball has been kicked as they looked ahead to the game.

Manager Michael Laudrup

"Tottenham already had a very good squad last season but they have bought some very good quality players, (Roberto) Soldado, Paulinho. They will, as far as I read, lose their top player so they may be a different team this season.

"They will have a very, very strong squad but a squad without a superstar. A lot of very good players but without one superstar as you have to admit Gareth Bale last season was an absolute superstar.

"We knew when we saw Man United, Tottenham first two games and Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, first three home games, it would be very difficult. But we have to play them all at some stage and we are confident."

Swans defender Angel Rangel on Roberto Soldado

“He is a proper striker who was one of the best in Spain.

“Going to a different league and scoring in the first few games is going to give him a big boost and build his confidence.

“It is going to be a tough game for us because they have so many quality players. It’s not just Soldado, but he is the one who is scoring at the moment and the one to stop.”
