Onazi And Fer Linked With Saints
Thursday, 24th Jul 2014 11:17

Here we take a quick look at the latest couple of names to be linked with Southampton Football Club.

Eddy Onazi is being linked with a move to the Premier league according to sources in the African footballing media, the Lazio and Nigerian International could be moving to St Mary's and as he is a central midfielder it would suggest that it could pave the way for Morgan Schneiderlin to move on to one of the North London club's, clue the two that arent Barnet.

Onazi has been at Lazio for the last two seasons and at 21 fits the profile that Saints would be looking at in the fact that he is young enough to develop further but also have the experience both in Serie A and internationally for Nigeria with whom he featured in all their games in the recent World Cup.

Also linked with Saints is Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer who joined the club from Twente last summer and being a Dutch nternational will probably be looking to get away from Carrow Road rather than play Championship football, Fer also played for Feyenoord but left in 2011 just as Ronald Koeman was joining the club, nicknamed the Bouncer due to his strong physical presence Fer at 24 also has the blend of youth and experience having played in 150 Eridivisie games plus 29 in the Premier for Norwich, Internationally he has 7 caps for Holland scoring 1 goal, that being against Chile in this summer World Cup finals in Brazil

getting fed up of all these players suposedly interested, just buy them whatever the cost ,we bound to pay over the top because they know we got cash to buy ,weve half created this mess ,reminds me of when we nearly went ,all the players leaving with the money going elsewhere instead of in the club

Can't say I've been impressed by Fer, but maybe that's because Norwich were so collectively poor last season.
If we are in the market for another central midfielder then surely Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord should be number one target. Would be an ambitious swoop but not impossible with the Koeman link.
Not convinced we need to rush to get another midfielder with other positions in such desperate need for filling, even if Schneiderlin goes. Unless Wanyama is the next player to force an exit.

I still struggle to understand how some supporters are intent on putting a positive spin on our situation. Losing our top 5 players and manager should be seen as nothing less than a disaster. Most of us where resigned to losing Shaw, possibly Lallana but not the core of our side...and the management. As it stands we have 24 days until we kick off the new season and we have only got two players through the door. I appreciate there is more to transfers than meets the eye but I feel we are almost past the point in which it is realistically possible to gel a team together with new players in key positions. Whilst we look to be stuttering in the transfer market, the teams around us all look to be getting much stronger. Patience often pays off with regard to the transfer window, however we need to stop waiting around for the inevitable departures and be show some drive and intent in the transfer market. It may be that we are doing all of the above, I am just growing frustrated at the mess we seem to find ourselves in.

Lets face it, you rarely start September with the same team that you start the season with.

It's all about southampton not the name on the back of the shirt. I reckon we be relegation prospects or at least in a fight if we don't do something soon. If that happens I'll blame those at the top. Common lets see some real movement in the transfer market. Quality not quantity. COYR

with the very surprising news that Callum Chambers has had a medical for Arsenal and the deal almost done. For the first time, I'm slightly worried what is going on at St. Mary's. Not panicking, but it seems as if we are a selling club and any player can be bought. Good business £16m for A 19 year old with a handful of premiership starts. BUT why not keep him for another season? As a squad we were lacking last season apart from Midfield and right back, why destroy that?
With what it seems the lack of resistance to the money being thrown in our faces, it stands to reason we will lose Lovren, Schneiderlin and Rodriguez, hey let's throw Fonte at Cardiff!
Sure we have good youngsters coming through, the 2 games I've seen Matt Targett play he seems up to the job, especially last night at Bournemouth, Sam McQueen looks just the man for pace and is willing to take on anybody! For his brief appearance, Jack Stevens looks like he could make the grade too.

I have faith in the board, that there are negotiations being conducted behind closed doors, but time is marching on. We don't want an assortment of new faces that need to gel on the first kick of the season.

Pelle looked class last night, Tadic showed signs, but need to see a lot more from him. Ramirez seemd to be relishing the freedom and showed some great touches, but he loses possession far too easily, he needs toughening up. As usual S. Davis and Cork put in magnificent shifts, Ward Prowse struts around like a veteran, Gallagher looked confident too. Yoshida looked a liability, fonts and Boruc need to work on distribution.
Wanyama was missed, without Schneiderlin

Anyway, Van Dijk, Forster, Classie, would make a massive difference

Message to Les Reed have a thought for the poor worried supporters, a few words of reassurance would go down a storm at the moment!
