Not sure whether this fella deserves to go in here or not, but he's going in anyway. Here for six months and played zero games. Someone I can genuinley claim I could do just as good a job for Dale as.

The likes of Martin Pemberton, Scott Wilson and Ndiwa Lord Kangana will always be able to look down on Charlie Comyn-Platt, for whilst they can boast about playing for Dale, Charlie will have to spend the rest of his days remembering the times that he nearly played for Dale.

Because in the five months he spent at Spotland after joining on a free transfer from Swindon Town, he didn't play a single game, and the closest he came was being named as an unused sub.

Quite why we didn't get to see isn't known. He came to the club having played a number of games at a higher level for Swindon Town, albeit in their relegation season, so you would assume that its not like we signed an absolute no hoper.

But it was clear from an early stage that the chances of Comyn-Platt getting a look in for the first team were very slim indeed. We had a succession of injuries and international call ups (well one international call up but its nice to remind people), and were forced to play full backs in the centre of defence for the first time in their career, but there was still no place for CCP. Even Mark Jackson regained fitness at one point to ensure CCP didn't get a run out, thats the lengths that we went to keep him out the side.

And as pre-season for 2007-8 began, it proved to be the end for Charlie Comyn-Platt who was released from his contract after just a couple of days of the pre-season work out. You can only assume that he didn't meet the standards expected by Keith Hill and as such wasn't good enough for Rochdale AFC

So given we never actually saw him play, we don't know a lot about him. What we know about him is that he started his career at Bolton Wanderers. He only made three appearances for the Trotters, all coming in cup competitions against lower division sides, and it was in a loan move to Wycombe that he made his full League debut.

That loan move was enough to alert neighbours Swindon Town who captured his signature following his release from Bolton in the Summer of 2005.

In his first season at Swindon, he made 27 appearances for the then League One side, albeit one which was heading for relegation, but in his second year, with new management at the club, he could only manage two appearances.

Before joining Dale, he had a loan spell at Grays where he made four appearances for the Essex based Conference side.
