Liverpool Hit Stumbling Block In Clyne Deal
Thursday, 18th Jun 2015 21:53

Liverpool have hit a stumbling block in their efforts to sign Nathaniel Clyne, they are not willing to pay the asking price.

Deluded Brendan seems to think Southampton is his personal shopping experience, the only trouble is that he is trying to shop in Harrods's and pay Outlet Store prices.

His opening offer of £10 million was nothing short of an insult for a player who if he had two years left on his contract would be worth £20 million plus, his second bid of £12 million shows that his nickname of Deluded Brendan is very apt, he seems to think that everyone should jump to his tune.

Saints are not being unfair when they say that they want £15 million for Clyne, that is a fair price for a player who is now a regular in the England squad, they are also not in the mood for playing silly huggers, with Clyne's replacement already signed Saints are in no hurry to sell, they can afford to wait for the highest bidder or even keep Clyne at the club till the January transfer window.

For his part Clyne is finding that he is not as highly valued as he might have thought and that Deluded Brendan is his only option.

For his part Rodgers is walking a tightrope in his job as manager at Anfield, with so much money wasted last season he cannot afford to go gung ho with transfer fee's, especially to Saints where he caught a massive cold last year to the tune of around £50 million

But the dilemma for Rodgers is that if he isn't careful he could find that another club could come in and trump his bid, if he wants Clyne then he needs to start being serious with Saints and start talking at the asking price.

Telegraph reporting that Liverpool nowhere near value AND Clyne still hasn't decided whether he wants to stay or not. Read into that what you will! I suspect he is more interested in Man Utd than Liverpool. If Man U don't come in, he may well decide to stay.

And they have the front to want £50 million for Sterling from Man City, absolute clowns.

Am I theonly one wh noticed that when Soares was confirmed the club made the pointthat hehad been bought to provide Clyne with competition, a clever move as unfortunately because we dont have a big squad our better players begin tothink that they are more important than they are, and certainly CLYNE bless him, has been noted to be showing some conceit having expected to be first choice for England and finding that he wasnt.Saints need to build a proper squad this window, and not sell their players to the enemy. The same very much applies to Spider and I hope SAINTS bring in somebody to compete with him for a place in the team and then perhaps we shall see a bit of loyalty being shown.

Don't forget there is a 20% sell on fee payable to Palace, which is why we need to screw every last penny out of Brendan and his directors. I would rather Clyne stayed and signed a new contract, but if he won't sign a new deal we have to sell now, for the highest possible price.

It's looking more likely that both Morgan and Nat will be staying. The crazy days of last year seemed to have knocked everyone back to their senses. Nobody is going to pay last years prices for these two. We have also made a big statement with two very good signings already. We need a bigger squad to not only do well in Europe but also to push higher in PL. so let's not loose anyone to poaching and go forward strengthening the team. I'm optimistic going forward COYR.

Good assessment Nick. Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph is a trusted source in my opinion and he wrote
1. Saints will stand firm the £15m or close to
2. Cyne will have to ask to leave - the inference being a transfer request thus foregoing the wages of the last year of the contract
I will add my view that
Saints would prefer not to sell at all. Soares is a squad addition not a replacement
Saints would rather sell to Utd, if they have to, but they have yet to show a firm interest with a bid
Liverpool have no recognised experienced RB, which is a major weakness for them when negotiating and squad deficiency that is a potential disaster for them next season if not rectified. In other words, they will become increasing desperate to get some one in soon (not necessarily Clyne)

VancouverSaint has hit the nail on the head, none of the expensive exports of last summer have proved to be worth the candle to their new clubs and they know now not only that they got suckered by Les into believing they were far better than they were but also that everyone of them was massively overpriced. Much of this was through legend, that out academy was so magnificent that its output must be world class. Alas, although the Emperor's new clothes were not completely transparent enough was revealed to ensure he (Les) couldn't pull off the same stunt again.

Any clubs interested in Clyne or Schneiderlin will see them now as primarily squad players and not superstars and fees and salaries will be offered with this in mind. None of this is unhelpful to us go course and a dose of real world reality will do those players no harm either.

X about time we forced Clynes hand to sign. Reduce his new contract wages every week. Come on son sign now and get a decent wage.
