Rosler upbeat despite further Leeds loss and Cook injury
Sunday, 26th Jul 2015 04:47

Leeds concluded their continental leg of the pre-season programme with defeat to Hoffenheim in Norway. Leeds go into their final friendly at home to Everton next week without a win and a fresh injury concern in Lewis Cook.

Leeds were trailing to a Mark Uth second minute strike in Liilestrom when Cook hobbled off. Leeds pulled back and equaliser when on-loan Tom Adeyemi plundered home a move which began with a Alex Mowatt corner, however a Steven Zuber winner in the second-half condemned Leeds to their second defeat against German opponents inside a week but at least there was no post-match confrontation between rival fans after the game.

Boss Uwe Rosler was delighted despite the defeat claiming during the first-half we camped out in the German's half and at least deserved a draw. He also told the official LUFC website that the withdrawal of Cook was precautionary as he'd taken a whack on his toe.

Whether or not Cook takes part in next-week's Yorkshire Day showdown with Everton remains to be seen, however one player who won't be taking part is Billy Sharp. The 29-year-old returned to Sheffield United for a third-spell after an unsuccessful year at Elland Road.

Sharp headed-home earlier this week from the Austrian leg of our tour to seal the move back to his beloved Blades. However he took time out to praise Leeds and in particular the fans, who he thanked for "believing in him" and claimed he had always wanted to play for Leeds. I don't think there will be many who begrudge Billy his move back to Yorkshire's second-city and will agree he always gave 100% even if, in the players words it didn't quite work out.
