Tottenham Striker Linked With Swansea Move

Despite Garry Monk dismissing the talk about a Swansea exit for Bafetimbi Gomis that does not stop the papers speculating as to who we may line up as a suitable replacement and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is the name that they have put in the frame. Spurs are known to be wanting to get rid of Adebayor off their wage bill, particularly following the rise of Harry Kane last season and they are reported as being prepared to listen to bids of around £5m for the player who has also played for both Manchester City and Arsenal.

The 31-year-old is one of the highest earners at Spurs and the same report suggests that the North London side could take a smaller fee in order to get him off their wage bill.

The Daily Star (yes I know!) is the paper making these links but they for me - are less likely than the ones that are also linking Sunderland front man Steven Fletcher with a Liberty move.

Whether we have an interest in the player on his playing style is one thing but the wage demands that he would command I think would not so much price us out as make us extremely reluctant to bring him as potentially our highest wage earner.

Monk has made his statement on Gomis that he is not going anywhere and that is the right thing. He did most of his summer spending early to ensure that he had a whole pre-season to work with his players and losing anyone at this point in time would look and feel wrong.
