Mark Haywood will make the trip east from Wakefield to take charge of Dale’s Capital One Cup tie at Hull City on Tuesday.

Mr Haywood has been a regular fixture at our matches since joining the league list in 2006 and Tuesday will be his 16th Rochdale appointment in that time.

We last saw him in November for the excellent 2-2 draw at MK Dons, while just over a year ago Mark was in the middle at Spotland for the 1-1 draw with Bristol City.

Before the weekend, when he was due to be fourth official at Preston v Ipswich, Mark had refereed four games this season, showing 15 yellow cards and no red.

He refereed York v Bradford in the previous round of the Capital One Cup and was in the middle at Morecambe v Wycombe last Tuesday.
