One Step Closer To Wembley - Hull Preview
Tuesday, 22nd Sep 2015 06:59 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Swans will tonight go into action against Hull City looking to secure a progression to the last 16 of the Capital One Cup, a competition that we won back in 2013 and would dearly love a repeat success.

In fairness this is a pretty tough draw for the Swans will Hull flying high in the Championship as they look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The pain of relegation last season will still be there for them, with that fall coming just twelve months after reaching a FA Cup final and Europe into the process. But it took it out of them and their relegation was confirmed back in May after a two year stay in the Premier League.

So there is little doubt that for me their main focus this season will be on promotion and that will help us as they are likely to field a weakened side which will play into our hands.

We know that both managers will make changes as they have already hinted at it but just the extent of how many they make we will have to wait for this evening to find out for sure.

For me we have an excellent chance of winning this competition this season again. As a Top 10 Premier League club we have to be amongst the favourites for cup competitions and for so many of the other teams especially those who are just joining at this stage thanks to their European commitments.

Team News

It is nigh on impossible to predict a managers mind at this stage of the competition. We know that Garry will make changes but I'm not sure in my mind that he will make eleven like he did last time around against York.

There are a few players I think will definitely start with Nordfeldt, Tabanou, Britton and Barrow I think almost certain for a start along with Eder up front. That leaves 6 places up for grabs elsewhere so I will have a guess at what he will do but it really is hard to call.

Score Predictions

Tough one to call this especially as we have no real idea on what kind of side either manager will put out,

The difference for me between the two sides is that we believe that we have a real chance of winning this competition again whilst Steve Bruce will have his eyes on promotion rather than anything else.

I do expect that to end up being the difference at the end of the game although I think it will take extra time for the Swans to get through. 2-1 after extra time, 1-1 after 90 minutes.
