Clucas- It's Great To Be Back In The Premier League
Thursday, 24th Aug 2017 08:00 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Sam Clucas completed his move from Hull City and declared that it was great to be back in the Premier League and that Swansea's style of football would suit and benefit his game.

Clucas signed a four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium for an undisclosed fee but this has been reported to be close to the Swans transfer record.

Various news sources have reported a deal worth £15m with add-ons potentially taking it to £16.5m but both sides elected not to declare the amount which is becoming more of the norm in modern day football.

Clucas and his new manager, Paul Clement, were speaking after the deal was concluded on Wednesday and had this to say on the move

Sam Clucas

“I’ve seen a lot of Swansea and one of the main reasons I decided to come here was because of the way they play football. I think it suits me.

“I had a bittersweet season last year with relegation.

“Because of my playing background, I never thought I would play in the Premier League so I relished every game I played.

“Once you’ve had a taste for the Premier League you always want to go back.

“So when the chance came up for me to do that again at Swansea, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.’’

Paul Clement

“Sam has had to fight hard for what he has done in his career,

“You can see that when you look at the path he has taken, having been at the Glenn Hoddle Academy and then gone on to do really well at Hull.

“And I am very pleased to have Sam with us now. He is a player I have come up against before, both in my time at Derby and since I have been here at Swansea.

“I think he is going to add a lot to our group.”

“He is another midfielder who brings versatility,

“He has a nice left foot. He can play in central midfield, on the left of midfield, out wide or at left-back, so I am very pleased that he is joining us.

“He has experience at Premier League level and good experience of English football.
