Cup Dates Confirmed And The FA Is Once Again Mucking Fans Around !
Friday, 23rd Feb 2018 12:58

The FA has given an update on the dates and times for the FA Cup quarter finals, find out all the latest information here.

The first two televised Emirates FA Cup quarter final ties have been selected by BBC and BT Sport.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s trip to 12-time winners Manchester United will take place on Saturday 17 March (7.45pm) and it will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2.

Four-time Finalists Leicester City will entertain Chelsea the following afternoon (4.30pm) and that tie will be live on BBC One.

The date and kick-off time of the two remaining quarter finals will be announced after next week’s fifth round replays.

So that means Saints fans will have to wait till possibly Wednesday evening and more likely Thursday morning for the date and time of the game at Wigan Athletic, why the FA can't confirm the exact date and timings for both ties so that supporters can get a rough idea is not disclosed, but surely that would be easy enough to do even if they can't divulge which teams will be playing at which time.

Supporters of the remaining teams in the competition have no idea when the games will be played, obviously the TV company with the next pick of the games would rather wait till they know whether Spurs are still in it and select them, but surely it is not needed to leave fans in the dark s to when the games COULd be played.

At the moment Saints fans are unsure whether it could be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday or indeed if any of these days are not actually in the frame.

It could be that the Monday for example is not on the schedule, if that is not the case tell us so we can discount that, I would imagine that the dates and times are in the schedule and it is only a case of picking which tie is for which slot, the FA should put us out of our misery at least to a certain degree.

It will not be Friday, as Wigan are away to Bradford on Wednesday night.

I doubt it will be Monday either, as there is an International break straight after the cup weekend, so players will need to jet off to join their countries as quickly as possible.

Wish they'd just tell all the teams at the same time

I would have thought that our match was the most attractive of the four. Genuine chance of a 'shock' and featuring the heroes of the last round. Alright, Leicester-Chelsea shouldl be good and Spuds at Swansea might be too but Manure are, as usual, chosen simply because they are Manure rather than because the game might be good.

Well done the FA. Proving they know more about rocket science than arranging four matches.

My dad, a Saints fan lives near Belfast, and I now live in Amsterdam. We try to meet up for matches each year but last week I said get us a home game against a smaller team so it is not moved. Sky and bt bastards. But I live in Amsterdam now and can get most matches on my tv. For no extra cost. Or the pub.
