Agent Says Player Definitely Staying At St Mary's !
Thursday, 26th Jul 2018 09:59

Some good news for Saints supporters as one of their favourites agents confirms that despite interest elsewhere, his client is staying with Saints.

Saints fans will be pleased to hear that Manolo Gabbiadini will be at St Mary's for the coming season.

Speaking to Sky Italia , Gabbiadini's agent Silvio Pagliari said :

“Gabbiadini definitely stays at Southampton, and we have to overturn last year’s performance in which we did not do very well. The team suffered a lot: a few goals, a very strange championship despite being very strong.”

Pagliari added about the interested clubs:

“A few requests from Italian clubs came but he feels at the top in the Premier League, also for how football is lived. It’s another world.”

Gabbiadini did not have a great season with Saints last season but that was as much about the way he was used in the side than his ability to score goals, although he only scored 5 Premier League goals but all of them mattered.

Without those 5 goals Saints inluding the vital winner at Swansea Saints would have had six less points on the board and would have been relegated,

Hopefully this coming year he will be played in the right way and find the form he showed when he first arrived at the club.

If Gabby had played alongside Pelle he'd have scored in most games. Come on Saints - where is that 2 metre burly athletic hold-up man? He's certainly not at St Marys yet.

That news is most welcomed.

That's better news than the signings we've made and they cheered me up.

He definitely needs somebody to play next to, even wondering whether Sam G would be worth a run next to Gabbi, if, as seems the case, we end up without another striker.

We've seen the better side of Gabbi...and I'm glad he wants to stay, but a few more goals would convince me more that he hasn't joined to "non-strikers club" alongside Austin and Redmond and Long.
