Chris was a talented winger signed by
manager Steve Parkin in the Autumn of 99. He began his career playing for
Sheffield United as a trainee, but was only given one substitution
appearance for the Blades.
He spent the best part of a season on loan at Hull City, chalking up over
thirty appearances for the Tigers, but he found himself released at the end
of this season by his Sheffield United bosses.
He then signed for hometown club Chesterfield, but this turned out to be a
very short and unpopular spell. There were rumours of bust ups with both
players and supporters, and after only four months, he made his way to
Spotland.
He only stopped at Spotland for one season, and during that time, there
were signs that he had a lot of talent. He was played wide on both wings,
sometimes both in the same game. He made a total of 30 appearances for
Dale, with perhaps his best game coming early in this spell, when he played
a major part in Dale's 2-1 win over Mansfield.
He was released by manager Steve Parkin
at the end of the 1999-00 season.
