Newcastle United Exploring Options For Signing Arron Ramsdale
Monday, 28th Jul 2025 15:40

The latest reports from the North East say that Arron Ramsdale could be on his way to St James Park, but under discussion is whether it will be a permanent move or a loan deal.

The Daily Echo is saying that it understands that Newcastle United are in talks with Southampton over Arron Ramsdale.

Speaking to the Echo Southampton owner Dragan Solak is quoted as saying that Saints will not stand in the way of a move back to the Premier league for the goalkeeper.

"He's even looking at all the options of how he would go and come back if we are promoted because he loves the club," Solak told The Daily Echo .

"But generally we understand that he needs to stay within the Premier League level of football to achieve his goals, and we will not stop that."

The paper also seems to be being briefed by the club about the situation claiming that Ramsdale could leave St Mary's on a loan deal with wages covered and Newcastle owning an option to buy the England hopeful permanently.

It would be very surprising if Ramsdale was still at St Mary's for the coming season, I would say that if Ramsdale was to be loaned out it would be tough on Gavin Bazunu, who would find himself playing to help the club get promoted and in doing so see himself sidelined on the return to the Premier League.

Nick, It won’t be a worry for Bazunu because there is no way we will get anywhere near a return to The Premier League with him between the sticks for an whole season.

Totally agree with saintmark1976. Where I was confident of a return to the PL with Ramsdale between the sticks. That confidence is eroded by Bazunu. Mid table here we come :-(
