Leeds land highly rated young Scot Robert Snodgrass and Antony Elding finally arrives at Crewe.

According to reports, Leeds have beaten off competition for highly rated Scottish striker Robert Snodgrass.

The 20-year-old has arrived from Livingstone as an out of contract player, although Leeds will have to pay "Livi" a fee due to his age.

Snodgrass signed a three-year-deal, on the official Leeds website he gave the usual spiel about the fine tradition of our great past Scottish legends (Bremner, Lorimer, Strachan, McAllister). I seem to remember Derek Lilley saying something similar when he arrived from Morton in 1997!

But lets hope that "Snodders" recaptures the sort of form that helped the Scotland U19's reach the final of the 2006 European Championships. In the same year, Snodgrass was offered a 5-day-trial with Barcelona! However he turned it down on the advice of his then-boss John Robertson and instead ended up at Stirling Albion on-loan!!!

Oh well, there's no comparison really between the Forthbank Stadium (capacity 3808) and the Camp Nou (capacity 98,772) I suppose!

And it was a case of "one in/one out" on Thursday when Anthony Elding finally left Leeds and joined Crewe.

Earlier in the summer, Elding snubbed a move to Crewe saying that he was going to stay at Elland Road and fight for his place - despite Gary Mac saying he was not in his plans.

Elding scored nine times for Leeds, scoring once in the shock home defeat to Cheltenham Town back in March.

Elding had been linked with moves to Bradford and Carlisle last week, incidentally Carlisle have added ex-Leeds favourite Michael Bridges to their squad after Hull released him.

Elding arrived on transfer-deadline day back in January from Stcokport. Gary McAllister had been in the job for only a week or so, so one assumes that the deal was already set up when Macca arrived and having worked with the 25-year-old for six-months, Macca just does not rate him.

However probably the most disappointed folk will be Elding's family, who apparently are all big Leeds fans.
