After Match Reaction - City (h) Sunday, 25th Jul 2010 09:41 by TheSilkWeb Gary Simpson was pleased with the win yesterday but isn't getting carried away as in pre season games you don't get any points on the board. City's Elite manager was proud of his young lads performance. Speaking to the MOS Simpson said "It's always good to get wins and I hope we can carry on getting used to it over the rest of the season. But you don't get points for friendlies." "That said it was another very good performance, against a good, lively side who in the first 15 minutes we probably gave a little bit too much respect to and sat off a little bit. Once we started closing down and getting in amongst them, we did well." Asked about Tyrone Barnett's impressive performance and goal he commented "He's a lad we wanted to bring in two years ago but at the time we couldn't afford the fee they wanted for him. But I liked the look of him then and also when we were looking at Ross Draper, so when he was available this summer I got in as early as possible and snapped him up because I knew he would be a good player for us." City's Elite manager Steve Eyre thought his side did well against the more mature Silkmen. "The lads will take so much from this game, even if they don't realise it tonight." he told the official City site. "These contests are vital in terms of development and education if they are to progress. I'm proud of their performance and proud to take them.
