Charlton Linked With Town Pair
Charlton Linked With Town Pair

League One Charlton have been linked with Blues pair Kevin Lisbie and Lee Martin. Lisbie, who spent the whole of last season on loan at Colchester, was previously with the Addicks between 1995 and 2007 and is believed to be a permanent target of his old club, while the Londoners want the former Manchester United man on loan.

Both players were amongst the eight recently made available for transfer by the Blues, but Lisbie looks the more likely of the two to join the Addicks, who last week announced a number of redundancies.

Town would probably allow Lisbie to move on for either a free transfer or for a nominal fee, while Martin’s wages, which are understood to be in the region of £12,000-a-week, would certainly be beyond a League One side. The Blues may be willing to allow Martin to go out on loan, but only if the other club were paying a significant proportion of his wages.

Meanwhile, Newcastle City Council have announced plans to build a memorial garden in tribute to Sir Bobby Robson.
