Grayson to play strong side against Leicester
Grayson to play strong side against Leicester

The manager might have to rest one or two players tonight against Leicester City, but he is taking the competition seriously and he will keep changes to a minimum.

He told the official site "As it stands, we're still considering our options for Tueday and what we're going to do. We have a few tired bodies and a few niggles so one or two players are a doubt for the game. I didn't envisage making too many changes - I only made one in the last round because players need games at this stage of the season - we will see where we are nearer kick-off”.

One player who might need a break is Becchio, who has worked very hard in a lone strikers role in the league games to date, and Grayson now has the option of giving Davide Somma a full game, which he may well be tempted to do after the South African’s two goals in his impressive 15 minute appearance against Millwall on Saturday.  We have no new injuries, but Painter and Snodgrass are yet to get back to fitness and won’t be in contention for a place tonight.

And Mad Max is finally available, having completed the four game ban that resulted from his dismissal on the final day of last season, so he is likely to feature at some stage as he tries to get back to match fitness. Grayson said “Max has been like Davide.  He's itching to play. They both served their bans, and both were gutted not to play in the first few games. Dave has reaped the rewards and hopefully Max will too. He certainly showed what he was all about against Wolves in pre-season and would have started the season on the back of that."

Leicester have made a disappointing start, after coming so close to reaching to the play-off final last season. Their former manager Nigel Pearson has since left the club, and under new boss Paulo Sosa they have only managed one draw and two defeats in their league games so far. But Sosa seems to be relaxed about it all. “I'm not worried as I have seen a lot of progress, but we knew from the beginning it was going to be a challenge. Results will bring confidence and the main thing is to see the team progressing, being well-organised and controlling the opposition.”

Conrad Logan will start in goal for Leicester after number one Chris Weale was forced off in the defeat to Burnley, while striker Matty Fryatt and midfield player Lloyd Dyer are likely to be rested, so that a couple of fringe players can have a go.

In other news, Leeds have agreed an undisclosed fee with Cardiff for 24 year-old striker Ross McCormack, who is now surplus to requirements in South Wales after the arrival of Craig Bellamy. But the signing has come too late for McCormack to be eligible for tonight’s game.

I’m quite confident about this game, now that our season is showing signs of coming together, and I think that with a strong team out we will be too strong for a Leicester side that is starting to struggle.
