A settlement could be a mix of a few things. Doesnt necessarily have to be his salary for the duration of his contract. I suspect he had a load of performance-related bonuses and things like that in there which we would have had to have (rightly) paid. ie. Cup win, last 32 of Europa league etc.
Also, i suspect with the way Laudrup's persona is micromanged in the public arena, that the silence clause will have been instigated by his parties in return for a reduction in compensation.

From our point of view we've been vindicated, it's been handled correctly and he's scuttled away with a bunch of cash and no dirty laundry aired in public. If there had been a smear and he was the paragon of virtue some profess then surely he would care about his rep and careless about the money, but clearly that isn't the case. |  |

And unless it's gross misconduct, which it rarely is in football, it's very difficult to determine what's a stackable offence or not - hence both parties know the score up front before they sign. | |

FWIW, BT is one of the 2 main Danish tabloids and is firmly in the pro-Laudrup camp; I'm fairly certain that their "understanding" is close to the money.
