Well Karl Oyston, the Blackpool owner, runs a club with no debt, and have put a team together without having to pay players in June and July.
It's a smart move. Rather than the start of summer when players and agents are demanding ridiculous sums, by getting them so close to the start of the season they can call the shots.
The debts at most clubs in the Championship are huge. I can understand why Blackpool supporters were getting angry, but you have to ask yourself, do we want to be another Portsmouth or Hereford? |  |

Have to say I completely disagree with the Blackpool piece.
There appears to be a feeling within certain footballing circles that for some reason Blackpool fans should be grateful with their lot. Why is this? Why are other clubs and their fans allowed to aspire to something better but not ours?
It is not a smart move to leave everything to the last minute. The upper hand in the negotiations is surely negated by the fact that every player and agent knew, two weeks ago, that we had no choice but to sign some players otherwise we risked not being able to fulfil our fixtures. It works both ways.
No Mr Allen, we aren't being smart. The chairman is just an ar5e who can't see beyond the end of his nose, and has allowed a situation to develop which has resulted in us being completely unprepared for the new season. | | | |
