The old lines of defence of Karl Oyston was that :
1 we would never go bust under their ownership,
2 that he doesn't intefere with the management of the football team and selections
3 that we have had great success under his methods
Point 1 still remains, although the club may end up having to write off those interest free loans repayable on demand, if the companies in receipt end up going bang.
Point 2 has been totally undermined by the current manager saying he wasn't allowed to pick a couple of perfoming youngsters because they wouldn't sign up to new deals.
Point 3 has never been true anyway - before VB no success, after VB has been sidelined, falling back to whence we came at a catastrophic rate of knots.

I admit I never really had an opinion one way or the other on the Oyston's - they were 'just there' - but I wouldn't criticise anyone who didn't bang a drum against their ownership or their ways until the last couple of years - many of those had a passion for the game rather than who owned the club - only recently have the two become linked in such a way that the O's have been exposed. | |
