My daughter has just been selected to play for the Cardiff city development squad at u10s after being scouted recently, one main reason for cardiff being interested is that all the games or tournaments she plays are played east of port talbot, so does anyone know of any teams playing girls football west of port talbot or do swansea even have a girls age range team |  | | |  |

Well ok, it just seems a bit odd that your daughter is being scouted and you travel far and wide for her to play but you don't know anywhere on your doorstep. And why you would ask on here instead of say ..... The Welsh FA who have full lists of coaches, venues and trainers throuout South Wales.

My mate who lives in Penarth has a daughter who plays for a side down there she seems to have games around Port Talbot and Skewen on a regular basis. I assume there must be girls teams in those areas on that basis. |  |

I see a lot of girls playing kids football nowadays alongside boys.My bro coaches AfanNedd and has a girl in the side and she can't half play.When i played you never saw girls attempting to play never mind being selected for development or academies.It does make you think where it will lead to though.Will your daughter impress enough to get in their academy and then be given a contract and work her way through to their first team.What happens then? I'm still a cynical swine when it comes to being selected for these development groups having witnessed it at first hand and still think it's a money spinning exercise by the clubs and give false hopes to the player and families.Getting selected is wonderful and worthy of a Facebook status and 110 likes but very rarely do you hear or read a follow up of their kid getting an academy contract.I really hope your daughter does well mate but try to keep a lid on it and whilst telling her to do her best try to prepare her for dissapointment.It hurts like hell them being let go after all the excitement of being scouted.Sorry to sound a miserable fecker. |  | | |
