Capel Celyn was a rural community to the north west of Bala in Gwynedd, north Wales, in the Afon Tryweryn valley. The village and other parts of the valley were flooded to create a reservoir, Llyn Celyn, in order to supply Liverpool and Wirral with water for industry.

How about the companies that take water from wales simply paying the market price for it. That is reasonable. The resulting funds can be used to provide cheaper water for the people and businesses in wales. Companies that use a lot of water might see wales as an attractive place to locate to. Or wAles could invest more in sustainable energy solutions. Wales ideally placed in terms of wind, tidal etc. Makes some sense. |  |

A turning point in Welsh history, its why we have a national Assembly [if you follow things through to its conclusion], the English overstepped the mark and people became radicalised as a result of their crime against humanity.
The story of the Tryweryn bombers was interesting also, their background etc, one just like another well known 'Welsh terrorist' was a British military type I have heard, no wonder the English didn't want purely Welsh regiments back in the day [afraid of which way the guns would point in certain circumstances perhaps as well as banning Welsh non conformist chaplains at one time when all sorts of foreign religions to these islands leaders were allowed to preach in the forces].
The Welsh started to get more concessions over time after that than you might think considering the might of England, I think the English authorities were afraid of what could have happened otherwise.
The story of Welsh 'patriots' helping to ensure that the families of the Aberfan disaster got money that was theirs is interesting, it was said a Welsh militia army paraded through the streets then gave ultimatums at a meeting afterwards that if money wasn't handed over in a certain timeframe then certain things would happen as a consequence [apparently serious sh*t], the money was said to have been handed over in a short space of time after the ultimatum and one of the leaders of the Welsh was said to have got a gold watch as a thank you from the people, no tanks from over the border or mass arrests, perhaps people in high places had had a think about it, Ireland then if they were not careful Wales which in turn could lead to problems in Scotland.
Then there was the investiture after that, the English led British State haven't tried a Tryweryn type stunt since but people need to be on the case.
