Milan in advanced talks to sign Ki 14:27 - Mar 12 with 11560 viewsKennedy

Milan is preparing to close the third zero-point purchase by a narrow turn of the post. After Pepe Reina and Ivan Strinic, the Rossoneri club is about to close with the South-Korean midfielder of Swansea Sung-Yong Ki.

ADVANCED PHASE - According to what has been learned from calciomercato.com , there is already a general agreement between Massimiliano Mirabelli and the agents of the 1989 class midfielder for a three-year period . The final white smoke could arrive in the next few weeks, with medical examinations and signature on the new contract. Ki wants only Milan, so much so that he has declined all the offers from Premier teams.

AMONG TACTICAL AND MARKETING DUCTILITY The technical and tactical qualities of Ki have long been known to the observers of the Via Aldo Rossi club . Like because it guarantees physicality, a good haul of goals and the possibility of being used in several roles. Without forgetting that it could become the first South Korean in the history of Milan, with a consequent possible new opening on that portion of the eastern market.

Luckily we have a great scouting and management team in place, who no doubt will have already identified a quality replacement and be working on a deal to bring him in for the start of pre-season.

If this is true even more evidence of mismanagement by HJ allowing teh contract to be run down.
We give Dyer and ROuteledge extensions probably in the hope a championship club came calling thereby upping the ante but allow a marketable commodity such as Ki to walk away for free...it beggars belief

How does that work in your world then?
Ki refuses to sign a new contract and then what do you do?
Does it involve jump leads and a car battery?

Somebody should show this to the Swans marketing dept, and ask how much we have lost by not pursuing the Eastern market since Ki has been here.

We don't even know if the manager's going to be here yet, let alone any new players. But no doubt we'll see the usual fannying about, the same as every summer.

Will be a shame, should never be letting him run down his contract, but on the other hand it’s a good job they did as he has been a massive factor in the revival.

Hope the yanks have a decent DOF in place for next year and are ready to overhaul the whole scouting dept.

You just fold the contract up so only the bottom is showing then get a Korean kid to run up to him and say "Mr Ki, Mr Ki, autograph preese....just there on dotted line"

A la Del Boy.

Good luck, Mr Cooper

My worry is that he commits to them before we are safe, will he push himself 100% if he signs a pre contract?!

i would rather keep him to help us stay up... the money from not getting relegated is much more than what we lose from Ki, since CC has come here... some of his free kicks and corners has led to goals... and I believe he has scored 1 winning goal (or maybe 2)... last thing we needed when CC came here would be selling one of our better cm's

It's not such a big loss for Swansea. Ki's underperforming is one of the major reasons Swansea has been a perennial relegation candidate for the past 3 seasons. 10-15 good games a season doesn't justify a renewed contract. Even this past upturn in form is probably meant to get improved contractual terms with his new employers. Even at Sunderland, he didn't start playing so well until at least midway through the season, and it was Wickham who was most instrumental in their survival anyway.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Ki will be used by a Chinese-owned club for marketing in Asia while using the strategically located Italian fashion capital as the base. It seems the Chinese are often at least as interested in the spouse of the player as the player himself. Graziano Pellè's girlfriend was marketing gold far more than Pellè himself, who was little more than an underperforming striker. Since Pelle's move to China in 2016, he's only had 13 goals. But who cares if his club can cash in on his wife? Ki's megastar wife is probably the bigger attraction than Ki.

Your loss

Competitive title races are very entertaining.

Napoli in with a shout of their first scudetto since Maradona, some 20 years ago

Juventus going for 7 in a row

Great battle for the CL places as well.

No big loss?

We’ve probably invested £15m in Ki over the duration of his contract. Clubs like ours cannot afford to let their assets be dissolved like this.
