Trivia quiz for you all. 19:01 - Jul 1 with 2319 views | Thacks_Rabbits | Other half kindly bought me a framed print of Dale shirts through the ages which is really cool, classic kits by goodteamonpaper if anyone is wanting one. Just thought as a bit of fun would see if we could work out the squad numbers/likely players for the pre squad number days. I know a fair few but thought 1 answer only each would be good, or else tvos will do the lot 😂😂😂 I would post a photo but I am clueless so..... 34 - 39 number 5 61 - 63 number 4 68 - 69 number 9 77 - 79 number 3 79 - 80 number 6 86 - 87 number 10 91 - 93 number 2 (Pretty sure this was Andy Thackeray) 93 - 94 number 12 95 - 96 number 11 98 - 00 number 18 02 - 04 number 16 07 - 08 number 15 13 - 14 number 22 14 - 15 number 40 17 - 18 number 31 Be interesting to see if they are random or chosen as out stand out players, I am guessing the former! Have fun guys and girls. Cheers Thacks

Trivia quiz for you all. on 19:55 - Jul 1 by soulboy | Complete guesses apart from 14-15, but no cheating! 61-63 Ronnie Cairns 68-69 Big Reg 77-79 Eric Snookes 79-80 Brian Taylor 86-87 Steve Taylor 91-93 Andy Thackerey 14-15 Hendo Cant even guess any of the others |
fthere were ni allocated numbers until late 1980s or early 1990s. each week 1 to 11 were on the pitch to start and 12 was the sub so question is irrelevant fir those first few.
Trivia quiz for you all. on 08:27 - Jul 2 with 568 views | fermin | I don't think we had many players in the 1930s who stuck around very long. The only one I can think off is one called Duff (forgotten his first name) and I believe he continued to work for the club after the war for quite a while in various capacities. Did players actually have numbers on shirts before the war in the League? The odd pictures I have found on Google suggests even the bigger clubs did not appear to do it so it would be odd for us to be different.

Could be Buck bearing in mind he signed almost 2/3 rds of the way through that season. The 34-39 could be Ted Goodier ? [Post edited 2 Jul 2019 10:33]

Terry Melling ! That's a blast from the past. They don't make centre forwards like him anymore. I remember him making his debut against one of the Bradford teams in a 6-0 win. He was the only forward not to score !
