Week 23 Results
LEICESTER 1 SOUTHAMPTON 2
Southampton gained revenge for their 9-0 thrashing by Leicester in October. With everybody predicting a win for Leicester no points gained here.
MANCHESTER UNITED 4 NORWICH 0
Manchester United have scored 4+ goals in consecutive home league games for the first time since September 2017. Norwich have now gone nine league games without a win. Well done to durham_exile for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 26 got the outcome.
WOLVES 1 NEWCASTLE 1
Seven of the 10 Premier League meetings between Wolves and Newcastle have finished level. 4 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Wolves.
TOTTENHAM 0 LIVERPOOL 1
Liverpool have now gone 38 Premier League games without defeat. Liverpool have 61 points in the Premier League in 2019-20 - the most any side has ever registered after 21 games in a single season across Europe's big five leagues. 3 had this spot-on, and another 20 got the outcome.
HULL 0 FULHAM 1
Fulham closed the gap on the automatic promotion places with this narrow victory, as they score with only shot on target. 3 got this spot-on, and 4 more had the outcome.
LEEDS 0 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2
Two late goals, with their only shots on target, gave Wednesday a dramatic victory. Nobody had this spot-on, but 3 did get the outcome. 24 predicted a win for Leeds.
OXFORD UNITED 1 ROTHERHAM 3
A fourth league win on the spin takes Rotherham to the top of League 1. Nobody got this spot-on, though 4 did have the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Oxford
SUNDERLAND 4 WYCOMBE 0
Resurgent Sunderland made it six unbeaten matches by thumping Wycombe. Again nobody had this spot-on, but 17 did get the outcome.
MORECAMBE 1 COLCHESTER 1
Morecambe moved off the bottom of the League Two table after sharing the spoils with 10- man Colchester, who have now gone twelve matches unbeaten. 5 got this spot-on, and 1 more had the outcome. 21 predicted a win for Colchester.
SWINDON 3 CREWE 1
Swindon show they won't miss top goalscorer Eoin Doyle after he was recalled by Bradford. 2 had this spot-on, and a further 17 got the outcome with 12 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.
Nine of the ten games had a well supported team, but with five failing to deliver, we ended with the worst 10 game week of the season so far, with a total of 146 points. 15 less than the previous worst. Only 18 spot-ons, with half coming from the 1-1 draws at Wolves and Morecambe, meant most members had to rely on the outcomes from Man Utd, Liverpool, Sunderland and Swindon for points this week. Two members did manage to have two 3 pointers, they were Blue4U2 and TheFatGooner who both had those 1-1 draws at Wolves and Morecambe, but it is the former who gets the honour of being the weeks top scorer, as his four outcomes give him a brilliant 10 points. Two outcomes for the latter gave him an excellent 8 points. That same total was achieved by wessex_exile, who did best of those having one 3 pointer, the Wolves 1-1.
In the Premier After two weeks without a 3 pointer noah4x4 was back to form this week, and by having the Fulham 1-0 spot-on he has stretched his lead to 24 points. The largest it has been this season. Outcomes were enough for Sector4 and sevebalo to hold onto the other Charity Shield spots, but they are under pressure now from TheFatGooner, whose excellent week takes him up a couple of places and within a point of the top three. Having the Liverpool 1-0 spot-on keeps mfb_cufc in contention as well. The only other change in this division has Tropical_Us moving up two places, as he was another to benefit from having the Wolves 1-1 spot-on. In the relegation zone, after going 56 games without a 3 pointer TheHappyGooner finally get one with the Fulham 1-0. Another one also for gerry_us, the Swindon 3-1, means the deficit to safety was reduced by 4 points this week.
In Division One A massive week for Blue4U2 as his top scoring effort means after leading by the most 3 pointer rule last week, he now has an impressive 8 point lead. Just two outcomes for Daniel keeps him in the other automatic spot, but the gap to the play-off spots is reduced by 5 points, as basher2010 has the Morecambe 1-1 spot-on to give him a decent 7 points. That same total was achieved by concordman, thanks to having the Fulham 1-0 spot-on, and he moves up a couple of places into fourth. Having the Swindon 3-1 spot-on keeps Lewis_1 in fifth place. In the final play-off spot is blueeagle, and even though he dropped a couple of places, getting the Morecambe 1-1 spot-on means he keeps up his impressive record of having at least one 3 pointer in each of the last six weeks. Having the Liverpool 1-0 spot-on has moved GOSBTS to within 2 points of the play-offs, after he was another to get a decent 7 points. The excellent week for wessex_exile moved him up two places, and puts him well in contention for a top six place.
