Happy League 2020/21 Week 17 (of 34) - Deadline Saturday 2nd January 12.30 23:39 - Dec 26 with 1976 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 16 Results

ASTON VILLA 3 CRYSTAL PALACE 0

An impressive win for Villa despite only playing with 10 men for the whole of the second-half. Well done to TheHappyGooner for being the one to get this spot-on, and another 15 had the outcome with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was equally the weeks most predicted score.

FULHAM 0 SOUTHAMPTON 0
Fulham have drawn each of their past four Premier League games, and Southampton have lost just one of their past 13 Premier League away game, after this bore draw. Nobody had this spot-on, but 3 did get the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Southampton.

COVENTRY 0 STOKE 0
Coventry suffered their third straight home bore draw, and Stoke get a third successive away bore draw. In hindsight quite a predictable result. Again nobody got this spot-on, though 4 did have the outcome.

DERBY 0 PRESTON 1
This looked like being the third bore daw this week until Preston got a 96th minute winner, and bring an end to 10-man Derby's six game unbeaten run. That late winner was good news for the 4 who had this spot-on, and the 3 who got the outcome.

CREWE 1 FLEETWOOD 1
Ex-U's Mikael Mandron struck his ninth goal of the season as Crewe extended their unbeaten run to six games with this draw. 5 got this spot-on, and 1 more had the outcome. 16 predicted a win for Crewe with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks other most predicted score.

PORTSMOUTH v SWINDON POSTPONED Due to Portsmouth players testing positive for Covid-19

CHELTENHAM 1 STEVENAGE 1
Cheltenham score for the first time in four games, and Stevenage equalise with their only shot on target. No points for anybody from this game, with 25 predicting a win for Cheltenham.

CRAWLEY 1 NEWPORT 1
Newport stayed top of League Two despite being held by 10-man Crawley, who had no shots on target (their goal was an og). Unbelievably no points for anybody from this game as well.

Eight games became seven when the Portsmouth match was the latest one to be postponed due to the virus. Of the games left two failed to produce any points what so ever, and the two bore draws only achieved a small number of outcomes. The late Preston winner avoided that game from making it five without a 3 pointer this week.
This was the second week running there has only been one home win. The trend for more away wins than usual is probably going to continue now that virtually all games are being played behind closed doors again.
After going 60 games since we last had a game end 1-1, just like............we get three in a row. This has been a poor season for the 1-1, and today's 3 made it only 11 for the season so far. In fact today's two bore draws made it 12 for the 0-0 this season, making that the best bet for a draw in this strange season.
On such a tough week it was a great effort from TheFatGooner to be the only one to get two 3 pointers, the Preston 1-0 and the Crewe 1-1, and with one outcome, he is this weeks top scorer with a decent 7 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer were burnsieespana and BFG who both had the Crewe 1-1, and thrillseeker, who had the Preston 1-0. They all had two outcomes to give them a very good 5 points.
Week 17 will now be an 11 game week to make up for the postponed game this week.

Champions League Just one more week, and hopefully 11 games, to find out who this seasons qualifiers are. The member now currently in that eleventh and final qualifying place is burnieespana with his 83 points. With three members within 3 points of that total, qualifying looks like it could down to the last game of Week 17.

In the Premier After one week away thrillseeker returns to the summit once again, but it is only on the first to post rule from TheFatGooner, whose top scoring performance moved him up four places. Last weeks leader mfb_cufc has to settle for the final Charity Shield spot, just a point further back. Up three places into fourth is Sector4, thanks to having the Crewe 1-1 spot-on. The only other member to get a 3 pointer in this division was noah4x4, the Preston 1-0, and even though the current champ remains eighth, he is still close enough to make an impact in the second-half of the season. Not a good week for the bottom four, and they are getting a bit isolated for the first time his season.

In Division One An unfortunate missed week for concordman, but on such a low scoring week not too much damage done, and his lead was only cut by 2 points. Up a place into the other automatic spot, for the first time this season, is durham_exile, thanks to having the Crewe 1-1 spot-on. Another to benefit from getting the Crewe 1-1 spot-on was burnsieespana, and he moves up a place, but more importantly moves into the final qualifying place for the Champions League, as he takes advantage of wessex_exile firing a blank. The only other change in this league has BFG moving up a place into seventh and within 2 points of the play-offs.

THE TABLES (127 out of 280 played)
{Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
