Col U Matches PL 2023-24 - Running Totals 12:07 - Sep 1 with 5311 viewsRSCOSWORTH

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates I've been away twice in August and work has been pretty hectic as well. Thank you to all of those who have entered so far, we have 10 people predicting each week which is great.

It took two weeks to get to Match 1 after the unfortunate postponement of the Swindon game. Three players went for a 2-1 Bradford win, ghughes11, wessex_exile and RSCOSWORTH and they take an early lead at the top of the table. No one else predicted a Bradford win and all other points came from the two Bradford goals or the one Col U goal. Just three of 10 players failed to get off the mark in Match 1.

They say confidence comes before a fall and all 10 players predicted a Col U win for us then to be outclassed by a very good Wimbledon side. Only burnsieespana got any points from Match 2, and it was his first of the season, by predicting Wimbledon to score two. The top of the table remains as it was and now just mfb_cufc and oxfcolu remain pointless after two matches.

Match 3 was both crazy and disappointing and seven of 10 players had the score spot on at different points during the game. It was gerry_us and mfb_cufc for predicting MK to win and score three that ended up with three points with everyone else having to settling for one or zero. The late, late MK winner was particularly galling for all those that had predicted a 2-2 draw. ghughes11 and wessex_exile lead the way now with oxfcolu and durham_exile propping up the table. At least everyone has got some points on the board now though.

Somewhat surprisingly the majority of people predicted bottom of the table and pointless Col U to upset top of the table and unbeaten Gillingham. This proved to be a bold but ultimately correct prediction as Col U ran out comfortable 3-0 winners on the day. No one managed a five pointer from this but five players managed three pointers. ghughes11 heads the table on nine points with gerry_us two points behind in second and mfb_cufc and wessex_exile two points further back in third. Going for a Col U win has helped durham_exile and oxfcolu up the table as burnsieespana drops to last place after drawing a blank.

Unsurprisingly after last week's tremendous victory at Gillingham the optimism was high and this was reflected in the majority of players going for a Col U win. Alas this optimism and positivity was short lived as the U's fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat. Colukev was the only person to predict a Walsall victory and his two points help him to joint third in the table alongside mfb_cufc and wessex_exile. ghughes11 chose a good week to miss as there wasn't many points scored and consequently he remains at the summit with gerry_us just a point behind in second. burnsieespana managed a point and him and oxfcolu are now tied at the bottom.

Probably depends on the journey from spreadsheet to image? I paste into powerpoint (if you have it?) as an image preserving original formatting, drag it out to a decent size, which as it's digital data at source shouldn't affect resolution, then save that as an actual jpg for uploading to flickr. The U'sual website restrictions cap the image size regardless of original resolution, but you should be able to get to nearly double the size it is now, but then again just clicking on the image in your post shows it at a size that's easily readable as it is anyway.

Not sure whether it was Tranmere's lack of form or the fact we had to be better than the previous week but eight players went for a Col U win with the other two predicting a draw. A dominant performance from the U's and a very comfortable, but slightly flattering to Tranmere, 2-0 win was the result. Colukev had this spot on to join ghughes11 at the top of the table and durham_exile also secured five points as he joins the logjam in third. oxfcolu is off the bottom as his single point was enough to take him ahead of burnsieespana who drew a blank, like Tranmere.

Despite our poor record against Mansfield and the fact they arrived at the JCS unbeaten in League Two this season our performance against Tranmere led to the majority going for a Col U victory and if it hadn't have been for a late slip in the penalty area they would've been right. Points for everyone this week, mostly for having the single Mansfield goal, but there was also four draw predictions with three of them being spot on with a 1-1 prediction. wessex_exile was one of these three as he joins Colukev at the top of the table, RSCOSWORTH also scored five points as he takes over in third position. burnsieespana was the other five points scorer as he rises up to eighth position with oxfcolu returning to the foot of the table.

The optimism from recent results and performances led to only one player going for a Crewe win. A disappointing defensive display in the opening 10 minutes of the match and some wayward finishing in the second half resulted in a Col U defeat. In a low scoring week ghughes11 two points from the Crewe win helps him move to joint second place alongside RSCOSWORTH and wessex_exile and just a point behind Colukev at the top of the table. oxfcolu remains in last position, two points behind Blue4U2 and burnsieespana.

Unsurprisingly no one went for a 5-4 home win V Notts County but eight people did have the score spot at some point during a pulsating match. It was two points for everyone that went for a Col U victory and zero for those that went for the draw. Not much change in the table as Colukev continues to lead the way. RSCOSWORTH has dropped to fourth and Blue4U2 has joined burnsieespana and gerry_us in joint seventh. Another blank week for oxfcolu and he's starting to get cut adrift at the bottom of the table.

Once again this season the optimism from the previous match was quickly snuffed out with a disappointing defeat at Newport. The inconsistent performances and results have made predicting a Col U result quite the challenge this season. The only points from this match went to RSCOSWORTH and burnsieespana, who both predicted a 1-1 draw, with their point coming from the solitary Col U goal. The only change to the table was burnsieespana breaking away from Blue4U2 and gerry_us in seventh position.

The feel good factor from the thrilling Notts County victory well and truly died after this result as 10 man Morecambe comfortably shrugged the U's aside. Everyone went for a Col U victory and oxfcolu was the only person to pick up any points from the solitary Col U goal. No changes to the table apart from oxfcolu closing the gap to Blue4U2 and gerry_us in joint 8th spot.

An error strewn 5-0 thrashing for 10 man Col U at bottom of the table Forest Green was not what anyone was expecting and consequently not a single point was scored. The less said about this week the better.

Once again the vast majority of people went for a Col U victory but a failure to take chances and a late goal from Harrogate resulted in a fourth consecutive defeat and ultimately cost Ben Garner his job. Not many points scored this week but a spot on prediction from oxfcolu gave them five points and took them off the bottom and up to 8th in the table. The only other player to score a point was burnsieespana as they move up to joint 5th.

Despite conceding an almost comical early own goal Col U secured an unlikely 3-2 win at Grimsby in Matty Etherington's first game in charge as Interim Coach. An inspired spot on prediction from durham_exile gave them five points as they move up to 4th and only a point behind the leaders. Two points for gerry_us was enough to climb off the bottom and into joint 8th place leaving Blue4U2 on their own at the foot of the table.

Despite not having Matty Etherington in the dugout, cheers Crawley, and having to withstand an Accrington onslaught the U's held on for a 1-0 win thanks to a superb breakaway goal from Joe Taylor. ghughes11 went for a Col U win and now leads the way from durham_exile in 2nd, who also predicted an away victory. A point for Blue4U2 means that they're now alongside oxfcolu at the bottom.

A late Chilvers goal may have cost a number of people in this league a point or two but it capped an impressive second half performance from the U's and gave them a third consecutive win. ghughes11 continues to lead the way but it's now the two exiles in second place as wessex joins durham on 22 points, just two points off the top spot. Blue4U2 and oxfcolu remain in last place but are only two points off 8th and four points off 6th.

A late goal resulted in few lost predictions points for the second match running as Sutton's fortuitous injury time equaliser ended the U's winning run. Confidence was high amongst the group with everyone going for a Col U victory and the only points coming from that late Sutton goal. Not much movement in the table with ghughes11 remaining at the top of the pile ahead of durham_exile and wessex_exile. Blue4U2 is off the bottom again as oxfcolu takes sole possession of last place once again.

A number of players optimistically went for a Col U win away at table topping Stockport but alas it was two goals either side of half time that led to the downfall of the U's as Stockport managed a record equalling 12th consecutive victory. Despite drawing a blank ghughes11 remains top of the table but only a point ahead of Colukev who has joined durham_exile in second place. Three points for mfb_cufc moved him up to 7th as gerry_us drops to 8th with the bottom two remaining the same.

The only two players to score points this week were those that went for a Barrow win. Despite leading at half time the U's capitulated late on after going down to 10 men, conceding three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match in a 4-1 defeat. A three pointer for burnsieespana has taken him to the top of the table, level with ghughes11. mcb_cucfc is now up to joint 6th as the bottom three remain as is.

Sorry I haven't posted. The main reason is slight superstition and we are totally crap at the moment. I don't want to tempt fate but I feel we are doomed to failure until we get a proper manager.
