In a strange twist of events l found myself in conversation with a young lady who had attended Layer Road for a match against Hull City in our first season in The Championship. The 5-1 encounter.
We were attending a promo evening for a band called The Datsuns in North London in 2008.
During the evening she explained that she had been present at a party that made the national news due to the tragic death of someone by the name of Mark Blanco.
The incident occurred in December 2006.
This incident will be shown on Channel 4 on Monday night at 22.00 in an hour long documentary and several people known to me have made contributions.
It may be of interest to some.
I am very much hoping that the police will reinvestigate the death of Mark Blanco as a result of what will be included in the content.
I know that what l was told by this young lady 15 years ago has been instrumental in the making of this documentary.

There is one particular taped interview recorded by Essex Police that l have gone back to many times over the years.
It relates to the evening of December 6th, 1995 - the night of The Rettendon Murders.
Essex Police are interviewing the person who made what is likely to be the final call taken by Patrick Tate in the back of the Range Rover ( or in his lifetime ).
It is a dramatic interview and Essex Police were polite, patient and l believe sympathetic to the interviewee.
It would make compelling viewing to see it replicated from the transcripts either on film, on stage or just by just listening to the audio.
It's not a piece that could be made in AI - it requires humans to express the drama in every word and in every breath.
Another of the young ladies interviewed just happened to have a machine gun stored in her loft with Christmas presents.....this gun was recovered by Essex Police and she was subsequently exonerated from being in possession of the beast ( which was 'Hot to Go' ). [Post edited 13 Mar 16:52]

Am doing a little extra research on Rettendon Murders.
This birthday thing for anyone who has followed 'Tigers' - it was my birthday yesterday along with a whole list of people l am associated with.
I have not had any dealings with Carlton Leach but was told yesterday that it was Carlton's birthday.
Very strange.

I should just say....l don't go looking for people with the same birthday ....it took over 30 years to realise that Steve Harris and l shared March 12....a year re. Peter Doherty etc...but now something else leaps out at me -
It was my birthday when l viewed the photographs of Tony Tucker and Nigel Benn with a lady who was closely associated with them.
She was in her kitchen making coffee when l discovered them in her living room.
This was in Great Baddow 1996.
It's only a few hours ago l looked back into some of the things she mentioned at the time.
And there it was. Graphically laid out in front of me.
All very strange, it's a bit like a road map and everything fits.

One thing l can post on here, that as far as l know, has not been published before is that Michael Steele ( one of the accused re. Rettendon Murders ) actually completed a property purchase on the very day the shootings of Tate, Tucker and Rolfe occured.
Steele did mention the purchase during an interview at Colchester Police Station in May 1996 but he didn't confirm the date.
Sounds like in one way and another he had quite a day!
It was also put to him during this particular interview that three maps had been recovered from his property which had navigational references on in his ( presumably ) own handwriting - in blue ink. [Post edited 14 Mar 10:28]

I have had a message back from Carlton Leach.
The online listings relating to his birthday are March 12th....according to him, and he should know, his actual birthday is March 1st.
Having said that he wishes me a belated Happy Birthday for Wednesday ....🙂🙂 | | | |
