£12 Adult, £10 OAP, so even if they charge a premium for cash on the gate it won’t be much. However, I do suggest buy on line as ticketing queues at Swindon can be tedious. One can always unsubscribe from their crap emails.

My other message is to warn folk that pubs around the Swindon ground are very away fan unfriendly (which is becoming a trend at away grounds ever since other clubs caused trouble). Nearby, there is merely a single away friendly pub about 300 yards from the roundabout near the main entrance. I don’t recall its name, but food was OK and bottled real ale is available.

Last visit, we walked miles to find a welcome. Port Vale & Chesterfield similar.

See you there Wessex!

It's the Merlin Noah, and all being well I'll definitely see you there.

Fond memories and Swindon are not words you usually see too often in the same sentence, but the rain-lashed ballboy is also a favourite of mine.

Also, persuading the New Years Day bouncers that I needed to go in the County Ground Hotel (the most away fan unfriendly pub of the lot) to collect signatures for the new ground. They were persuaded, and to be fair to their lot, I managed to get several pages of signatures without getting my head kicked in. We won 3-0 as well.

One lowlight has to be ripping the piss out of the morbidly obese Razor Ruddock all game, only for him to score the only goal of the match.

I hope you all have a cracking day, or at least a lot better than the last time I visited the Cun#y Ground.

20 plus years ago we played them on Boxing Day and I managed to escape the family ‘festivities’ to head off along the M4. It was one of those away games where you wish you’d stayed at home. Everything went wrong. The traffic, parking, the stewards, arsehole away fans, the ref, cheating Swinedon, you name it.

Standing just the other side of some netting from particularly vile home fans didn’t help. The sort that pays good money to stand with their backs to the game, just to spit at and throw abuse and objects towards away fans. All in all, it was quite an unpleasant experience.

Middle of the second half and refreshments are kicking in, so I head off to answer the call of nature. Entering the toilets, for some inexplicable reason and in a fit of anger, I decided to boot one of the cubicle doors to vent my wrath (have I previously mentioned the inner hooligan?).

….and so, it was to be “hello my old friend instant Karma”.

I had expected the door to slam open or even fly off of its hinges, but for some reason it didn’t move and the rapid deceleration of my footwear resulted in three seriously wrecked pinkies, so bad that I was still limping in March.

To this day, I don’t know if the door was locked off because the toilet was out of order, or if there was some poor U’s fan the other side with his kacks around his ankles. If it was the latter, I like to think I did them a favour. Assuming they didn’t have a heart attack, my size 13 slamming into the door, backed up with 18 stone of aggression must have seriously hastened the arrival of any pending bowel movement and hence they would have been back in view of the pitch much quicker than anticipated. Always glad to help a fellow U’s supporter!

EDIT: Second thoughts, could one of you check that they're not still cowering in the cubicle.

Remember this match (and no it was not me in the cubicle ha ha)!

Promotion season, Col U on a great run - players must have had too much Christmas "turkey"!

Diving header by New Zealand legend Rory Fallon scoring the winner with not much long left (last kick or head of the game!)

Oh well we had the last laugh and thanked them nicely for Curo!
