Move completed on sky sports news ticker, can't see it anywhere else though.

Days like this one weren't supposed to happen to Rochdale.

A few comments from Bobby there. Seems he is as glad he has gone as some of the users on here. Bit of a shameless name drop there too with Stevie G. "He's always there to give me advice"... yeah, bet he has been phoning him a fair bit for some advice on his court case and how to weasel out of a conviction like Stevie G did!

Is John Coleman his Dad? Classless prick.

Stevie G's ma mate aye aye aye!

An unusually negative comment in the direction of Dale from a former player. It's one thing to think it, quite another to say it.
Most former Dale players have displayed more class than that.

Still, this is not unexpected when you remember what he's allegedly capable of saying. Thinking may not be a particular strength of his.

Thanks for sullying the Club's name by the way.

Enjoy your relationship with Stevie G - another whining and miserable s*d from the badlands. Oddly enough, he's achieved nine-tenths of f*ck all as a footballer too.

Didn't read anything particularly negative in what he said. He sees himself as being a Championship player, and he has gone through some lows - regularley booed at Scunny by his own fans and the discipline problems of the past season. I didn't interpret any of what he said as a sleight against the club.

I'm with Col, what's negative / classless in the things he said?

Rochdale - his employer, the one who rescued his career from the doldrums of Scunthorpe - couldn't stand in his way?

We gave him a contract, we accepted his transfer request and asserted our right to a transfer fee, helped him become the better player he refers to.

Couldn't stand in his way?

Go on, fook off.

He's gone to a championship club on perhaps treble his wages (at a guess) of course we couldn't stand in his way. It's his job at the end of the day (in football speak), he is not a fan, he doesn't have the years invested in the club like we as supporters do. I hate the false (not all of it is false) sucking up to fans players do, much rather they be honest.

He's probably refering to the agreement that he had with Hilly and the club. If he worked hard in pre-season, and a decent bid came in, we'd let him move on. That's exactly what's happened, so we couldn't (and wouldn't) stand in his way.

Nothing wrong with his comments. Especially when Hill "couldn't wait to get rid". That's why we didn't stand in his way once a decent bid had been tabled.

Good luck to Grant and also to Blackpool... they either have a good player, or a complete liability.

I just hope we move to sign a centre forward soon, as I don't think we have anywhere near enough strength or quality upfront.

Probably, possibly, who knows?

He had the opportunity to express the slightest of gratitude - it comes across as he couldn't wait to get away, irrespective of pay, level etc.

Im with Judd on this.

That interview sums up the impression I got of him when he was on the pitch...... arrogant wannabe tough guy who loves himself, and sees himself as too good for our club.

Good footballer, but an utter prick.

His departure will take away some quality, but I'd rather that than risk his attitude affecting the rest of the squad (a young impressionable squad at that).

Bye bye Bobby, you shall not be missed by myself.

He is one ungrateful tvvat, hope he gets sent down.

Monday 16 September at Snaresbrook Court is the occasion to look forward to. I suppose there'll be some negative publicity for Dale, given he was wearing the club's shirt at the time of the - alleged - offence, and I'm sure, whatever the verdict, after the trial the FA will get involved. But that will be an issue for his new club (though no doubt the England captain will be able to give him some good advice).

Steve Gerrard is an expert on Blackpool, Owen Oysten and Paul Ince's Management style, he's the first person I'd be asking advice from.

If guilty, it would present an ideal opportunity for the Board / Hill to say they were disgusted by his actions and moved him on asap "no room at Rochdale for....no matter how good a player..." etc. Payback for his latest interview too!

I think there's one big thing people are missing when talking about Grant. Lets not forget, he had the leagues highest tally when it comes to shots, often from outside the box. Of the 230 ish shots he took, he only scored 16, so lets not get carried away calling it a 'wand'. As far as people are concerned about strike force next season, we may well need another striker, but I for one am expecting a big season from Donelly. Added to that, take away grants shooting at the very start of attacks, we may well see more clear cut opportunities being created from the like of Done, Henderson, Hogan later in the attack. I don't think we've lost too much here, Grant always cuts inside too which lead to imbalances in attack, and he also has his im petulant side. so for me, he's not much of a loss, possibly even a gain, considering the fee paid.

If you don't buy a ticket, you don't win the lottery though!
Suarez (who has been compared to - albeit the L2 version) has the same issue with shot tally!

I guess, but personally, I think this is a great bit of business by us, and I'm not fussed at all if he's gone, especially if Hilly can get another couple of players in as a result, that'll be great

Games against morecambe losing spice due to Grant leaving? What have I missed?

He seemed to play the pantomime villain more than ever in games against Morecambe and revel in the response. They can't stand him.

I don't particularly like his comments in that article either. "Rochdale couldn’t stand in my way,” implies that;

1. We would even try to, as though we're notorious for rejecting good bids and halting the careers of our players.

2. Our club was a place he wasn't even happy to be at in the first place, but rather a place he was eager to escape.

Thanks for the replys lads, some have been amusing to say the least ;)
I have to admit i thought the interview Bobby did above with the Gazette left a bad taste, especially considering the situation you got the lad out of at Scunthorpe,a little appreciation wouldn't of gone a miss,it's the exact same attitude DJ Campbell showed us when he jumped ship to QPR.

All the best hope you have a good season.

I wouldn't have thought that I was either desperate nor easily offended, but I see your point. There is no doubt that the piece may not fully reflect the whole of the interview.
However, there has been a succession of players given a chance at this club in recent years, and invariably shipped out because of a need for funds, and I cannot recall one that has shown so little grace upon leaving.
Rochdale facilitated his leaving for bigger and better things, at Blackpool, under Ince, having rescued his career and affording him a shop window. A little, tiny acknowledgement would have gone a long way, don't you think?

Probably just lazy journalism.

I wonder if the print version of the paper uses a MAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSIVE picture to avoid writing/cutting-and-pasting their story?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Or possibly.

Either way, this thread is split fairly evenly on interpretation of the article, hardly surprising given how he divided support so much so that some bloke had a prescient fit at Grant's antics at Wimbledon.
