Each team plays with their own footballs, and if they are under-inflated, it makes them easier to grip, and more difficult for the opponent to cause a fumble. To clarify, each team plays with their own balls. For some reason there is no standard. Each team has their own 12 balls to select from when on the field, when they're on offense.
Apparently after halftime this got sorted. Hm, really? Patriots were up 17-7 HT on 18 January this year, but even if this wasn't continuing in the second half, Pats won 45-7. A team's strategy has to change, the game plan reformulated when they're behind.

edit: Brady is a supposedly a Hall of Famer with now 4 Super Bowl Titles to his name who could command a fortune of a yearly salary. But he took a "pay cut" so the Pats could perhaps somehow overstep the rules of how much New England could pay out more, to other players? Gimme a break. How did Tom Brady get paid "on the side" somehow? Pats supporters should be embarrassed.
Just saying. Fair Play Regulations, someone should investigate for how N.E. manipulate(d) their books as well, year by year... Something stinks.
