Each Group will play in a mini-league for the Round of 16 matches, with the usual 3pts for a spot-on and 1pt for an outcome, and top two in each Group to go through. As before, there will be no first-to-post tie-breaks this round, only most spot-ons. If positions still can't be determined, the tie-break question will always be attendance at the next U's game (home or away).
The first 8 fixtures are as follows, though I stress as there is no first to post advantage, competitors do not have to predict all matches in one go if they don't want to. Deadline for any game prediction is the kick-off, compliance will be determined using the time a prediction is posted on this board compared to the published kick-off time.

Even if BnW or RS don't make it before kick-off tonight, then can still predict the 14 remaining matches, and many before have for one reason or another missed matches previously, and still done quite well regardless, so unfortunately I won't be awarding one of the two slots to Noah. At the time that Noah won, there wasn't, nor ever had been, a default that the winner of the previous competition automatically qualified - the 12 places went to the 12 best scorers at the end of that year. Regardless, an opportunity was offered to Noah to step in to the competition on the back of his assertion that (a la Liverpool) the holders should always qualify for the next round, but he declined the opportunity. Since then, the qualification criteria has been changed to always include the holder, so you have earned your place on merit. If you really do want to hand it over to Noah, and he's happy to take it, then unless there are any objections from the other competitors, I can work with that, though I'm mindful there's barely 10 minutes until kick-off for the first two. | |
