After what was indeed a mind-numbing (Pete B, pers comm) final two matches, the results are as follows.

With three-quarters of the matches done, this group was finally poised on 6pts for everyone, but following an utterly brilliant round of 2nd leg predictions, Sector4 storms to the top of the table with 8pts from the 2nd legs and 10pts in total, to finish joint top with RS Cosworth (with an almost as impressive 6pts from the 2nd legs), both with two spot-ons and four outcomes. Pete finishes a commendable 3rd, but really needed a late Juve winner to qualify. After being joint leader at the midway point, Thrillseeker faltered, and his two outcomes yesterday were not enough to avoid the Group 1 wooden spoon.

The Net consolidated his position at the top of the table with two more outcomes, to finish group leader with 10pts, and again from two spot-ons and four outcomes. The real battle was for second place, with the late winner for Real Madrid meaning former champion MFB caught up with Gate16 for both to finish equal on 7pts, and both with one spot-on and four outcomes. Commiserations must go to GSY163, who with six correct outcomes out of the eight games (a la Wessex-stylee) still finds himself with the wooden spoon for Group 2.

Attendance at Fleetwood was 3,129, buoyed by a generous slice of the U's faithful, which means Gate qualifies for the semi-final, and only 145 off being spot-on.
