Challenger Amanda Serrano wants her upcoming bout against Katie Taylor to take place over 12 rounds of three minutes, but undisputed lightweight champion Taylor says the fight is "already iconic as it is". Ireland's Taylor, 35, will meet seven-weight champion Serrano on 30 April in the first female bout to headline New York's Madison Square Garden in a 20,000 sell out.
I was there when AJ failed against Ruis Jnr, but by far the bout of the night was KT versus Persood. Serrano looks an even tougher opponent than the battling Belgian. Women's soccer, cricket and rugby might always struggle, but boxing and tennis offer a real opportunity for parity of purse and recognition of EDI status for females in sport thanks to the brilliant efforts of KT.
