Sounds like a potentially good buy. Was top goalscorer and 'player of the year' in the Irish League (2007), then signed by Reading - but immediately out on loan experience with Norwich City and Charton (2009). Now signed by U's from Reading (and known to John Ward after being tracked at Cork City). Perhaps a player ready to fulfil his potential in England but has had limited opportunity except on loan to date?
I know a lot of fans frustated at the striker situation have been talking about Freddie Lapado's brace at AFC Hornchurch, but he is only just 17. I thought he looked sharp too. However, we need the experience that a player like Dave Mooney can bring. But like Sam Corcoran last year, I would give Freddie a run in the lesser cups and perhaps an occasional place on the bench whilst he gains more physical strenght and confidence. Perhaps ready for 2011-12 season - but (IMHO) an exciting prospect. |  |
