Col U to steel the points at Bramall Lane this weekend 19:43 - Aug 16 with 1419 viewsdurham_exile

Saturday sees the U’s first big test of the season. Sheffield United at Bramall Lane is always a big game.

This season the Blades have a new manager in David Weir and they have had an indifferent start with a televised win against Notts County, followed by two defeats to Burton in the cup and Brentford in the league. Combined with the loss this week of their midfield maestro Kevin McDonald to fellow promotion hopefuls Wolves and even the most ardent Blades fan could be forgiven for being a bit down in the mouth.

But they do have Febian Brandy who was a handful when we played Walsall last season.

JD has also promised that Colchester will do more than simply experience a day out in Sheffield. Recent games at Bramall Lane have been rather one sided affairs with early goals conceded and the points lost by half time.

Colchester this season however is a different proposition. Shrewd signings and an injury free squad for the weekend game leaves JD with an interesting problem of who to leave out. It is a most satisfactory position to be in. Oh and I didn’t mention that we have started with 6 points out of 6.

I expect JD to play a strong team and to take the game to the Blades. Sitting back has cost us dear over the past couple of seasons.
Such bold tactics will mean that U's fans will be smiling at 4.50pm on Saturday.

Team in a 4,2,3,1 formation:

Walker

Wilson Magnus Eastman Dickson

Eastmond Bean

Watt Sears Massey

Ibehre

Subs:

Cousins Thompson Pappoe Bond Wright (Drey) Morrison Gilbey

JD has exciting players and despite the doom and gloom predictions from some so called football pundits, this will be a special season for the U’s.

So expect a big crowd buoyed by the £10 tickets and the family day atmosphere.

Safe journey to all travelling fans tomorrow.

Up the U's
