Foolishly I watched this on the club website from a hotel room in Majorca. Should have stayed on the beach!
Awful performance. Despite being in front the first half had been a dreadful man match with both teams looking clueless. We clearly needed the second g ok al but once again poor finishing let us down. The substitutions were bizarre and completely handed the initiative to Blackburn who took full advantage. Rather than press for a winner we backed off and the inevitable happened.
Blackburn were dreadful and lower in confidence than us. The fact they won is very worrying.
I felt for the travelling fans who were badly let down again.
Living near Bridgwater on the edge of the Somerset Levels this was my nearest match of the season. For the third time in a row we were well beaten at Ashton Gate.
First half was good. No complaints really. Very unfortunate mistake by Wood. The ball seemed to spin and he got in a complete tangle.
Second half was pretty awful. Dreadful cross field pass for the 3rd and a fluke of a goal for the second. Never looked like recovering.
Individual mistakes kk es and bad luck cost us dearly.
That said City deserved the win as they seemed to want it more and we're better organised.
I think our luck will change and I'd persevere with Still. Definitely need a new centre forward in January as much as I like Stewart he's clearly very injury prone and without a tall striker we struggle.
Maybe telling us that expectations are high but as yet we’re not a settled side. It wasn’t a bad away point but we do need to start winning our home games. The support was great as usual and we had Derby on the back foot but couldn’t capitalise on it. Losing Stewart really affected the balance of the side. He was so close to scoring before damaging his hamstring and things could have been very different at 2-0. Still a reasonable away point in my book.
Not a bad game but very frustrating with some awful defending and misses galore upfront. Stoke were much more composed and organised though didn't like their blatant time wasting and disruptions as the game went on.
Referee was inconsistent but good to be brave in his decision re the sending off.
Wood played OK but far too many errors to give confidence. Far too many sloppy short passes all over the pitch. Fernandez started really well but faded and Downes looked lost at times. The forwards look good on paper but not on the pitch! The crowd were great again and really tried to lift the team. Not sure where we go from here.
A good away point. A few mistakes but generally I thought we did well. Plenty of determination. I was happy with a point both before and after the game.
Thought the atmosphere was brilliant and what an ending. A well deserved win. Wrexham started well but tired badly and resorted to time wasting and feigning injuries. Their team is a bit old but should finish mid table I reckon. We do need to tighten up at the back but for entertainment what a great start to the season.
It was a long round trip from Somerset but a nice afternoon by the Mersey and The Albert Dicks before the game. Not a great match but good to win and I felt we deserved the win despite Everton missing two one on ones. Eleven super penalties with just the one that was missed. Our bench was much stronger than Everton's and it showed towards the end. Some good performances but little up front. I think the midfield isn't creating enough. Armstrong wasn't great but had very little service. Some very unhappy Everton supporters last night.
A brilliant atmosphere and a performance to match. That’s three excellent performances in a row. Just one more needed. Everyone played their part in a great win. I felt we were in control and the better team throughout. Two super goals and a well taken penalty.
Things were spoilt for me by the pitch invasion and especially the unnecessary taunting of the WBA fans. It denied us a lap of honour and as a regular away supporter I would have hated being abused the way the Albion fans were. There were other drink related incidents during the game. I guess being on a Friday night and people arriving early to greet the coach meant hours of drinking for some.
That said it was a memorable night…the best since the win against Inter Milan.
The final is too close to call but we’ve every right to go there in confidence. It’s been an enjoyable season with some great memories.
