Your mates assessment is exactly my opinion of him. He got away with it at ours because he was surrounded by so much shite, but take his free kicks out of the equation and you’re left with a bang average Premier League player.

Having said that, of course he’d be a good addition for us, but it’s never going to happen.

I watched the last 10 minutes of regular time, the extra time and the pens. The quality was dreadful, both sides constantly giving the ball away and panicking like fvck when defending. Then the penalties, I mean wow, beyond horrific.

However, if you take the actual quality of play out of it, it was quite endearing to see the rawness and positive side of top level football. They just crack on when fouled, accept the refs decisions (and there were some proper dodgy calls) and work their fvcking tits off for their teammates. In some ways it reminded me of watching a kids match before the cynical side of the game takes hold of them.

Stansfield wasn't even the best striker in League 1 last season....19 goals scored and 9 of those were penalties.

I do agree that Birmingham will be there or thereabouts this season though and expect them to go big in the transfer market.

There were 2 options when I finally got to the checkout; one was a tick box saying £0.00 delivery charge on away tickets, but when I selected that it wouldn't let me checkout, so I selected the other tick box which said £1.00 delivery and it went through fine.

Changed it again and even w@nker that before. Had a right hassle getting Northampton tickets just now....kept erroring. Also charging a quid for delivery now on top of the £1.50 booking fee. Cvnts.

Would you support a wealth tax

I’m sorry but defining working class wasn’t what Nick asked or what your original reply said. We were defining working people.

Re your point about 26% of those earning over £100k living paycheque to paycheque; if you earn the money, you should be entitled to spend it on what you want. Some may choose to be flash, have a massive mortgage, an expensive car etc whereas someone else might choose more modest possessions but to own them outright as quickly as possible. Neither are right or wrong, but what is wrong in my opinion is the variance in tax higher earners pay.

Hypothetically, why should you be taxed 50% of your £100k salary, but your neighbour gets taxed only 25% on their £50k salary? You both work hard, but one of you has found a career or made decisions/sacrifices in life that comes with higher earnings. If the rate was equal, the £100k earner is already paying double the tax of the £50k earner.

I don’t like it when people sneer at those that have done well for themselves financially and imply they’re entitled scum who deserve to be highly taxed. It’s pure jealousy.

So by that definition, anyone earning over £100k pa, is not a working person? Not everyone you may class as wealthy is born with wealth....there's plenty of driven people out there who sniff out and seize opportunities, take risks, setup business and generally work their tits off to earn good money.

Being jealous of those that have made good decisions to maximise their earning potential and expecting them to pick up the bulk of the tab for those that haven't is wrong, imo.

Being near the away fans is definitely not important to me and although I prefer to stand watching football, that isn't a necessity either. However, being surrounded by total gimps singing the same w@nky songs and acting up was so unbearable last season, I'd honestly rather not go full stop than have to endure that again.

I've had season tickets in all 4 stands of St Mary's since it opened and the abomination that is the Northam Wall is by far the worst. The Chapel has always got mocked for being dead, but I had several seasons in the family section in there and in comparison, it was a much more enjoyable place to watch football.

I don't have a problem with it at all and think some fans underestimate the importance of having a few "club men" around the place. Our lack of experience and leaders over the last few years has been telling and I think it's essential to have players like Stephens in and around the squad.

Lighthearted music thread

1. Unbelievable by EMF (all those people listing cool groups are lying I reckon)

2. Pink Floyd, Earls Court 1994

3. Kasabian at Victoria Park Leicester in 2014 or Prodigy at Brixton Academy last year

4. Had to leave a RatPack (D&B) performance in Southsea back in the 90's early due to a massive fight kicking off with the group I was with and some locals.

5. I tend to go in phases and re-visit older acts. Saw Primal Scream 2 or 3 months ago and have been listening to a lot of their stuff again recently. Struggling a bit with new bands these days. The K's are decent and I quite like Wunderhorse

6. Kneecap or any other act that thinks they're at a political rally and throw all that Free Palestine, fvck the Tories bollox constantly down your throat. When the music becomes secondary, it's a big no no for me. Just sing your songs ffs.

Top 3 Saints players who fans wrote off but ended up being half-decent elsewhere
at 09:47 2 Jul 2025

1. Dusan Tadic - show pony, rarely delivers

2. Sadio Mane - always offside, falls over all the time

3. Oriol Romeu - little quality, too weak

All 3 regularly slagged off early in their Saints careers by some of our mongy fans , including a few regulars on here. Tadic especially got caned by loads during most of his time with us, then shortly after he left the same divs were saying he's exactly the type of player we needed.

Only 3 Days Left On Season Ticket Renewal
at 10:57 9 Jun 2025

True to a degree, but our away numbers have been massively bolstered in recent years, so I think for anything south of Birmingham you'll need at least a season ticket, especially now quite a few clubs only give you a 2000 allocation.
