Given he was already serving a suspended prison sentence for his social media actions, it was inevitable he was going to be remanded in custody. The guy he has allegedly assaulted is an ex Football Team manager that lives locally. It happened at 9pm at night - so not a dispute on the golf course. I have met Barton on several occasions in a previous life, and he has a very short fuse. |

It is an example of the club listening to the fans. Judd raised it via the CAB after asking fans to share issues/questions. And the club has taken it seriously. It is an ageing fan base in the main stand and there have been some terrible falls and injuries over the past few seasons. |

Thank goodness we are not playing at Grimsby. Their pitch is a real mess - the ball wasn't running freely in their televised FA Cup game at the weekend. I would think Scunthorpe's pitch is better than that. |

I think it is fair to say that our budgets have always been tight compared to the bigger clubs in any of the leagues we have competed. When we got into League One we were told we had a playing budget of £3.5m. Allowing for inflation that would be around £4.25m today. Carlisle and Forest Green Rovers to name just two clubs has a larger playing budget than that in the National League. We are spending less than £2m today. Quite remarkable really. |

I think there is an argument that some BBC regions are saturated with league teams and some have none. Hence regions like BBC Lincolnshire and Gloucester cover non league teams. I live in the North East and Look North covers Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough significantly, but every Monday night they show the goals for Carlisle, Hartlepool, Gateshead, York and Harrogate religiously, and have a preview on a Friday night of all the teams in the region. It can be done. BBC Radio Newcastle doesn't tend to have a commentary team at Gateshead though unless it is a big game like the FA Cup. |

A comment from a Scunny fan on their Board probably sums up where we are. "York are the best attacking team in the division and Rochdale are the best overall team. Will be an interesting fight to the end". We are certainly a complete team, and if York weren't doing quite so well, we'd all be very happy with what we have. Amassing north of 100 points is dreamland for us - regardless of whether we are top or second. Lets make sure we do. |

We have some numpties still in the ground according to the CEO at the Fans Forum. The club explained that they are to be fined for not controlling fans properly, and that even for games like Borehamwood, there were Dale fans trying to attack the small number of middle aged men that had travelled from Borehamwood to the game. I guess the police and the safety officer have had to step things up until it settles down. And to think we hardly had to have the police at games a couple of years ago. |

We need to take the pressure off the lads. They know what needs to be done - let them play without pressure and the results will come. We know they are good enough. What we don't need is a tension around the place - still remember when we topped League Two and fell away to get promoted in 3rd place. This team is good enough to go up as Champions. Enjoy. |

With you on that one. I can't see us changing the keeper - our No 2 doesn't even get on the bench nowadays. We have to pick up 3 points at Yeovil as there will be a harder game to come on Tuesday. No silly experiments Jim please - although apart from Brackley away he hasn't really done that. |

Fair enough. I was in the queue for a good 10 minutes and nobody was searched on Sunday in that time. I was over aggressively searched on Saturday. Is the same level of intimidation being applied to people entering the main stand via the main entrance? [Post edited 11 Feb 11:38]

Just a further observation to pee everyone off. I am assuming that the Stadium safety officer is the same regardless of game or sport? At the Hornets game on Sunday, when 4300 attended, the stewards made no attempts to search anyone. |

Not sure, but looking at the scores through the weekend, the second string teams have all been well thrashed ny Superleague clubs. It really was man v boys as hard as Hornets tried. But by heck, the fans get through the booze. The takings would have been substantial. |

We had more than 4.700 today and a great atmosphere it created. Hornets have sold more than 3,000 tickets for their Challenge Cup game against Wigan tomorrow. It's good for sport in the town, and for our bar takings, that 8,000 will pass through COA in two days. I am going to go tomorrow whilst I am down. Of course Hornets may struggle to keep Wigan to less than 100 points. |

It is sad that we need this thread on a day when we have had a good win against a promotion rival and amassed 70 points. But it is needed
We seem to have lost any sense of what it means to be fan focussed in recent months. The stewards were like this at the Truro game and it took 3 minutes for a steward to search 3 people. Today was worse. Waving a wand is fine. A pat down is just about tolerable. But being asked to take garments off and being frisked quite aggressively is not on. We had about 700 extra home fans today - will they be prepared to come back and put up with the queues and the farce? Where is the Risk Assessment that deems it is necessary. I have been a fan in the main stand for 30 years and can't remember a single incidence of anybody using weapons or pyrotechnics in that stand. Most of the fans in there are retired. They were searching 80 year old men today FFS. The pretence that we were looking for Carlisle fans is utter tosh. Strip searching without a single word being spoken, or asking to see my season ticket, will never identify me as Dale fan or an away fan. The club MUST now publish the Risk Assessment that shows that this level of security is needed for Spotland. The Risk Assessment has to be displayed somewhere in the stadium in any case. And if this fixture was deemed so high risk, why were there a reduced number of stewards in the main stand? |
