It's absolutely no wonder that Jelly and hundred's of thousands of Americans think that the UK no longer has freedom of speech when over 500+ are arrested for holding placards. And the difference with Russia is that most of these people will be released without charge, possible with comp for wrongful arrest, rather than ending up in a Gulag, but even so. Such a stupid set of decisions by Yvette Cooper and the police. |

Not according to Nick, Dirk. His appointment was proof that the Club were turning over a new leaf. |

"The moaning fans are not to blame for results" We heard it here first. I bet it actually feels good to say that. Are you ready to try: "The rot started under Gao, who was a disaster for the Club"? That could also be cathartic. |

He's the best player in what became a strong Coventry side under Lampard last season. Creative midfielder, with skill, who scores goals. Would be a great buy for Saints but why anyone would move from Lampard and a Cov side on the up, to a Will Still gamble at Saints under Solak's stewardship is beyond me. |

This from: https://www.sportbible.com/hardest-done-by "Five years of data. Thirteen painstakingly chosen categories. One clear ‘winner’ - Southampton. The Saints have endured a brutal half-decade: 42 errors leading to goals, nine 90th -minute winners conceded, and a 55% away -day defeat rate. The evidence is damning. Southampton fans are, beyond doubt, the most hard-done-byin English football. Congratulations, Southampton…sort of." Over to you Nick to: (a) Put a positive spin on this (b) Flip it so that it's the moaning fans to blame, and the Club that is hard done by... |

Fair play India. 35 wasn't much of a total to defend this morning but they took the game by the scruff of the neck and bowled accurately and aggressively, and forced the win. And 2-2 was fair. |

I think all of us - of all political outlooks - despair about idiots having the vote. But we all disagree on who the idiots are. So I'd rather that my idiots get to elect their people sometimes, than to have some sort of intelligence test before you get the vote. (Although they were taking the piss with Liz Truss). |

I said I was waiting before judging the manager and the team too. I'm not really interested in the strength of the squad 'on paper' - it's not Top Trumps. Let's see if this manager can turn the players he has at the end of the window into a winning team. That's the only question that matters. |

If everyone arriving on a boat was automatically sent back to France, no one would get on a boat and that would be the end of it. And that's exactly the deal that Labour seem to be trying to make with France. But it has to be deal - France has to agree. And they will reasonably want the UK to legally take asylum seekers by a different route. I don't mind making a deal with them to share the load if it stops the boats. Like every country, we should be offereing sanctuary to genuine asylum seekers. |
 | Forum Reply | Good man - poor leader vs bad man - allegedly good leader at 10:31 30 Jul 2025
At present it doesn't look like Labour is moving the dial on getting the economy moving. I also find their use of the terrorism act in relation to Palestine Action really sinister. But I think this country needs 'boring' after all the craziness that Brexit, Boris and Liz Trust brought - none of which, it seems to me, improved our day to day lives. And Starmer does seem to have navigated positioning the UK with good relations with both the EU and with Trump, and that is no mean feat. |

Rings true. Always thought some of Ralph's team selections and subs were bonkers. Makes sense that he was playing stupid games at the time. |
 | Forum Reply | Is promotion this season possible? at 15:20 7 Jul 2025
Very true, and maybe it's now actually impossible without breaching the FFP rules to compete with a new team in the PL. And I guess it highlights the difference between the financial motivations of the Club as a business, and as a football Club. But last season was purgatory and I felt resentful watching them, particularly since January when the Club didn't even attempt to strengthen to stay in the league. If the Club are just going to use a PL season to get some cash, and not be too fussed about results, there's not really much point in going to watch. |
 | Forum Reply | Is promotion this season possible? at 14:13 7 Jul 2025
There's no point trying to get out of the league unless we do it with a squad that can at least form the basis of a team that can compete in the PL. I don't want another PL season like last year. Ever. |
 | Forum Reply | Will Still taking a job in England…… at 21:22 20 May 2025
If we didn’t know otherwise, and hadn’t had our expectations lowered quite so much, we would have to think that a story about appointing Still was a joke. We need a manager to build a new team pretty much from scratch, get us out of the Championship and then maintain us in the PL. Is Will Still the man to do this? Who the f*ckety f*ck knows. But what I do know is that it’s yet another Solak gamble and that Solak’s track record is appalling. And I wouldn’t trust Spors to make the right decision either. He’s also completely unproven. |
 | Forum Reply | Will Still taking a job in England…… at 09:55 18 May 2025
Because they are too proud to admit that they are clowns. They someone think that they’ve just been unlucky. That if they keep going they’ll get it right eventually. Putting our fate in the hands of inexperienced people like Spors and Still is more of the same from Solak. He’s got no clue and never will have. |

Watched Darlo play Orient at Brisbane Road. Darlo has a famous blind fan who stood pitchside shouting racist abuse. His mate told him whenever a black player got the ball. Racism does not recognise disability. |

Apparently he’s put in a request to walk out at Wembley pulling a large crucifix on his shoulder which he wants to position in the technical area. The FA are considering it but are worried that it will upset Jews and Muslims. |
