 | Forum Thread | Need more left footers in the squad? at 12:19 27 Nov 2023
At Huddersfield it was very obvious we had no-one who could cross from the left for most of the game. Bree was excellent defensively and okay going forward but both he and Sulemana had to keep cutting back onto their right foot to get a cross in and usually didn't as it was easy for the defenders to block. Manning and Edozie came on. Much better going forward down the left flank, but then Huddersfield started getting loads of crosses in from that side. A couple of 'free' headers missed by Huddersfield, but as I said to my lad, "Get enough crosses in and shit will happen,"................and it did. I'm not a Manning hater, I prefer Bree for his defensive qualities, however, we really need a left-footed left wing/wing-back in front of him if Bree plays........ |

Drummer was very annoying. Placing him next to the away fans makes it hard for the away fans to get any songs going. Good ploy from the home fans. We did get a good rolling, "Oh when the Saints, (Oh when the Saints), Go marching in, (Go marching in)" going during an injury break (and beyond). So much so that my ribs began to ache............. This was when the drummer went quiet for 20 minutes or so. |

I coach rugby and enjoy both codes........and am exasperated by both as well. Overall, what has been positively said about rugby here is mostly true. There are some hoorays (especially at Twickenham) who come over all superior.......imagine meeting Johnson in a pub and how he'd treat you as a common oik. Lots of great fans too. The club I coach a boys team at has very few public school types. Real down to earth club, as are many in the area. Hard game, brutal at times, even in junior matches. Parents are generally more welcoming to opposition etc at rugby than football, but I've seen confrontations in both codes amongst parents. Another thing football can learn from rugby, everyone can see how much time is left and the clock is stopped for breaks in games. Stops the randomness of 'added time' and bias for the filthy rich sides. For balance, I'll try to think of something rugby could learn from football............ |
 | Forum Thread | Good old Mossy at 12:17 30 May 2022
If you thought Moss' performance at Leicester was bad then think again. At Leicester he failed to book any of the Leicester players for repeated 'professional' fouls to halt possible Saints breaks and then we had the Vardy injury restart. Seldom have I seen a crowd as incensed with a ref as that day. I was hoarse for 3 days after. At least it was his last match in charge. Then to my horror/amusement he was there, yesterday for the Forest/Huddersfield match. We live in Nottingham, so had an interest in the game as many of our friends are Forest fans (though more are County!) What a ref/VAR cock up. Though Huddersfield failed to get a shot on target (Forest hardly tested the keeper either and scored with an OG) they had 2 clear penalties. The first 'Mossy' failed to spot and gave a yellow for diving. VAR didn't deem having your trailing leg tripped onto the other leg in classic playground fashion a 'clear and obvious'! The second was even clearer trip from behind which Moss didn't give and VAR (I think) didn't review. Absolutely bizarre decisions in the 'most valuable match in the world to the winners'. |
