I don't get why people assume we are deliberately leaving business till the last minute. The fact that we as supporters know we need a striker means the club sure as hell does. I'm positive they've been working since before the window even opened to try and get someone in.
Why haven't we got someone yet then people ask? Maybe we aren't chasing certain targets, maybe the club doesn't think some will fit, maybe they're asking too much money, maybe they don't want to move to QPR? There's a wealth of reasons why. A lot of players will wait till the last minute themselves to try and get the best deal they can, doesn't mean the club hasn't been trying to sign someone.
I'd much rather the club did it's due diligence, take their time and sign players that they actually want to bring in rather than spunking a load of cash to whoever was available at the start of the window.
Besides, if we're paying premium it will be because we're now seen as a money bags club paying obscene amounts for any old piece of dross that will come to us. We all know how that works out. Agents will try and milk us for ridiculous amounts or take their players elsewhere and given our recent dealings I'm not surprised that's their approach.
Chiming in a bit late here but I coded up a simulation of the game in VBA. I used the assumption that if a card with value 13 or above shows up, the person chooses Low for the next card and if a value of 12 or less shows, they pick high for the next one.
After about 1000 simulations I got an average number of turns at about 6.3
Don't hold me on this, I whipped up the code in about 20mins and it's pretty buggy and fond of an infinite loop or two but I think the basic theory behind it is pretty sound. I'm happy to share the code/spreadsheet if interested.
Sendles-White and Freddie Champion were subbed on for the triallists. Be interesting if Zigo and this french guy are being considered as potential for the first team or straight into the reserves. Feyenoord do have some good prospects coming through as stated above. At least we are looking at some younger players...
One of the trialists was indeed Brandon Zigo Tichem, the other one was a French guy apparently. All according to Tichem's twitter, he also reckons he played well (despite the loss) and a decision could be made this week whether we are going to sign him.
The site is reputable, it's the football page of a TV network over here, this rumour has been doing the rounds a bit over here in Australia. Rogic is largely considered one of the brightest prospects in Australian football at the moment and has been having a decent season. He won a international talent search called the Nike Chance Academy a year ago and was offered a contract with Reading but couldn't get the required visa. He's since been capped for the national team and is currently trialing with Celtic as well.
He plays as attacking midfielder but is still very very raw. He has a futsal background so has very good technical ability and a great eye for a pass but doesn't have great pace and is still somewhat lightweight. Maybe similar to a more forward playing Faurlin but nowhere near as good yet. Could be a decent player in the Championship but not prem quality just yet. No doubt has the potential to be a top top player but not the kind we need right now.
