I think the lesson to learn is not to be knee-jerk reactionary. It’s a marathon not a sprint and we’re going to get good spells (where ‘are we going up/players are great/manager has to stay’ comments appear) and bad spells (where ‘are we going down/team is rubbish/manager has to go’ comments appear). |

Superb performance, superb result and I’m guessing Hooparoo had a good time! [Post edited 20 Dec 17:30]

My understanding was that it was going be down-sized to a 25k athletics stadium (was never intended to stay at 80k) and the national team would move from Crystal Palace (16k) to there. They are now in Birmingham (18k). An utter balls-up by the Olympics legacy people and the West Ham owners utterly pulled their pants down knowing there was really no other option (Orient too small, Spurs too far/encroaching into east London territory) so they were able to get it for 2' 6" and some Werthers Originals. That doesn't make it a good football stadium though because it was designed and built to be re-purposed into a smaller athletics stadium, which never happened. [Post edited 19 Dec 17:37]

Same! There have been some really good new stadiums recently (Spurs and Everton prime examples) and just cannot believe how utterly bad this place is, if what I'm told is correct. Have the fans/club really sold their soul for this compared to the Boleyn Ground? I hear they give loads of tickets away to schools and others really cheap just so they can go on an on about how they are filling out a 50k stadium and what such a massive (innit) club they are. I'd wager their true fans don't number much more, if that, then who went to the Boleyn. Oh well, we'll see on the 12th! [Post edited 19 Dec 16:34]

Whatever the result, I want it to be with a full strength team giving it 100%. Fans have been mugged off too many times and with 9k there, the club needs to show the fans, the competition and the opposition some respect by playing it's strongest team. [Post edited 19 Dec 16:09]

Another vote for Westfields. Yes it's a Mall but just much more convenient if you have family/group of people. |

Probably but they'll be the utter dogs schit seats. |

Lower tier completely gone. The more I look at the more I think what an utterly awful place to watch a football match. [Post edited 19 Dec 15:17]

Did you get options where to sit? |

I have 825 points so will wait until 3pm. It'll be fine (unless Clive has bought them all by then). |

I remember a cup game at Old Trafford and the club fuked up the seating ticket allocation. They allocated from the back of the upper tier first then worked forwards meaning all the first priority applications got the schit seats right at the back and the general sale got all the good seats right at the front. I wasn't a happy bunny being stuck right at the back. And we lost 1-0 to a late-ish penalty and we had a late equaliser ruled out (because of course, to both). Just read the BBC report and it, clearly biased, said "an equaliser would have been unjust given the visitors' reticence to attack." - WTF does that have to do with it???? Goals are only allowed if the team has attacked well but not given if they haven't??? I think a certain Mr Zamora would not agree with that. [Post edited 19 Dec 10:56]

According to t'internet, capacity of Highbury in 1982 was 57,000 so 54k probably about right. As far as our game, 45k, also about right. Roughly 20k each. WBA were First Division, we were Second Division. Different days then too, still issues with hooliganism etc so probably alienated a lot of people that would probably be perfectly OK going today. |

Mine was just a tongue-in-cheek remark about how post-match analysis often suggests how we could have avoided defeat but if you apply that to every game, then we go the season undefeated! It's pointing out that it's highly unlikely that will happen so maybe banging on about it each time is a bit fruitless. Only Preston (in 1888-89) and Arsenal (2003-04) have done that, in the top flight at least. Can't find any data for the other three divisions. |

if this or that player was picked or this or that formation was used, we wouldn't lose a single game all season. It’s quite easy really. |

Even braver since once he was holding the gun himself, he could have been mistaken for one of the shooters and shot/killed himself by the police. Selfless bravery at its best. |
