It does.

So, to follow up….

Maybe the club weren’t interested in him
Maybe he wasn’t interested in the club
Maybe both parties were interested but we couldn’t afford him

I hope so as it’ll stop us flushing our percentage down the toilet! At least until January

Over the years I’ve lost count how many comments I’ve seen along the lines of “I can’t believe we didn’t go for him”.
How do we know the club didn’t? Not everything is public. Maybe the club called his agent and the conversation didn’t progress beyond that call. Or maybe they didn’t.
Either way, we don’t know.

Cold showers (non QPR, maybe)
at 00:13 23 Jul 2025

Guy i used to work with many years ago was lucky enough to have an indoor swimming pool.
Great guy, in his early-mid 60’s. Ate well, looked after himself. Couple of weeks before Christmas just gone, either it was forgotten or something happened to the timer but the pool didn’t warm up in the morning.Jumped straight in, body went into shock. Dead. RIP.

I think it’s intentional that Chloe is an impact sub, fresh energy etc, but maybe 10 mins earlier at least!

Apologies if it came across wrong but my point was about how threads just become everyone vying for the right to be right. I wasn’t trying to suggest womens football is contentious.

As with any contentious subject matter, the number of pages isn't related to the opinion but the dispute between many to ensure everyone else aligns with themselves. That's the battleground.

Chloe Kelly goes all Bobby Zamora
at 14:57 21 Jul 2025

I know a lot of people from the area who are 'Chels'.

Bumped into Paul Merson last week and I asked "I heard a suggestion years ago that you're from Greenford and were a QPR fan, is that right?".

"nah, I'm from Harlesden and supported Chelsea"

"So where did it go wrong" I responded

"For QPR?"

"No, your choice of team to support!"

Anyways, Chloe needs to get in touch with the BBC and insist on a front page retraction!

Maybe she did when she was very young (kids do sometimes chop & change) and they've latched onto that as it's more glamorous than us.

Kicked off after the game too outside the away end. Revenge was in the air from the Coventry fans due to the whipping I believe they got in Ibiza

I watched the highlights and the whole penalty shoot-out this morning and I can only think they were all knackered as the penalties were so poor. Sweden had two match points (in tennis terms) and fluffed them both.
Probably the worst & best penalty shoot-out in the same match!

I see on social media supposed quotes from female players saying they should get paid the same as men because they play the same game.
Either they are made up to generate clicks (because, after all, that's how it works..... deliberately say something wrong or controversial) or they are genuine quotes. If genuine, you really can't compare. It's like saying (in the mens game) the Carlisle goalkeeper should be paid the same as the Liverpool goalkeeper because they 'both play in goal'.

The two game's (men's & women's) are completely different and should just be considered and enjoyed on their own basis, there is no point to compare anything, and that applies to the game itself, attendances, match income, salaries etc etc.

Are we likely to lose any of our better players to Leicester now ???
at 17:44 16 Jul 2025

Yes, i think we will lose all our best players to Leicester because only Marti knows about these players and no other club or scouts will have any insight so Marti has the upper hand and will raid us relentlessly.

It all just feels very manufactured and deliberate to ensure the elite (i.e. those with CL pedigree) are involved. Can't be having any pesky 'lower' clubs being involved.

Qualification should always be on merit but even we suffered nigh on 60 years ago because UEFA hadn't envisaged a third tier team winning a domestic cup. So what? It was won on merit, let that team participate. It's deserved even if eliminated first round. We weren't given that chance.

Chelsea and their fans will no doubt be milking this but they need to remember it's just an exhibition tournament.

The criteria for participation is very loose. Champions League success (hence Chelsea squeezing in) seems more important than domestic League success... tells you straight away the FIFA thought process.... Euro League here we come

Juventus got in ahead of Napoli even though Juve last won Serie A 5 years ago but Juve have had a stronger presence in Europe in the same time frame, that's the barometer for FIFA.

Some 20 odd years ago I was living in flats in Camden and one of my neighbours two boys were football mad, just like any other 7-10 years olds. Now, I'd seen them play and they were good but nothing special. He hawked them around every club he could....QPR, Fulham, Southampton, Watford, Norwich and so on.
Talking to him all I could sense was greed. No consideration about the welfare of his sons, what's best for them etc.

Forward wind to today and now my own 10 year old is in youth football I see that nothing has changed. I see parents with £££ in their eyes, 7-10 year old boys strutting around like they are god's gift because they've been told they are. These youth clubs are meat grinders, all about getting that 1 in 1000 boy to a professional club and what £ they then get back off that. It's a business from the bottom to the top.

As there is this massive conveyor belt of kids, clubs can let a player like Willock at Newcastle go because they can then take on a bunch of youth boys at a collective cost that is less than renewing Willock's contract. If just one of those boys comes good, job done.

Very reflective of where we are today. Businesses are no longer about providing a service but about how much money can be made (just read about the Connells estate agents scandal, no surprises there. "In the best interests of the client"?.... No chance).

No one qualified, it was by invitation and any suggestion of qualification was made up.
