| News Comment | Time To Get Tight At The Back On The Road at 00:13:31
From what I've seen on SaintsPlayer. Our game an offensive one and its neccessary for the two CB's to play high up the field and exposes them to the long ball through the middle. I guess the answer is more anticipation by Fonte and Hooiveld or speed on the turn. |
| News Comment | Saints At Cardiff The Verdict at 21:37:02
Once again it seems to me that many players these days are incapable of using their initiative. Davies, bowling the ball out to players under pressure. Teams will do their homework on us and we have to be good enough to overcome that. We are the League leaders, after all. Our dependancy on Lambert to is predictable maybe De Ridder on the flank with Guly alongside Connolly might be an alternative. Adkins is trying to shuffle the pack and as Merrington said on SaintsPlayer reversing the roles of the midfield of Cork and Schniederlin failed. So I expect to see Hammond and Cork back together again Saturday. Hooiveldt is human and made a mistake Raidi did the same last season. |
| News Comment | Great Left Backs - Bill Rochford at 11:14:00
My stepfather worked with Bill Rochford at Follands and it was that which Rochford recommended me through Sid Cann. I played in the Hampshire league for Docks and Marine and trained at the Dell with the Gregory brothers and Wayman & co. Ian Black was my hero. |
| News Comment | Adkins Looking For Momentum Not Overhaul at 22:53:18
That's exactly what I have been saying all along. Whilst everyone on here has been decryingthe lack of activity in the transfer market Adkins has got on with maintaining team spirit. Goberns departure made the arrival of Cork was good timing and good luck. Common sense suggests that this year will be one of consoladation, seeig who, asyou put is able to step to the plate, and who isn't. Following last years excellent performance all the squad need to have their chance, if they fail well and good but it takes time and games and so I feel that consoladation is the issue here. If in the process we are successful and get promoted then that will be a bonus. |
| News Comment | No Bids For Oxo - Not Good News at 11:33:32
Any Manager/Chairman combination should take the scenario with Chamberlain into their plans for the forthcoming season. Sure as you say Nick it doesn't make life any easier, but then who said managing a football club would be easy. |
| News Comment | How Much Do Supporters Expect Saints To Spend In The Transfer Window ? at 22:08:40
I agree with you that nothing is certain in football and that if Chamberlain goes we will need a replacement. I'm sure that Adkins and Cortese are aware of that situation more than we. Either way we can't lose so far as Chamberlain is concerned. As far as the rest of the squad is concerned I think, until proved otherwise they have to have their chance, they've earnt it. I'm sure each member of the squad will have, or have had an interview as to where they stand for the new season. But there is nothing so demoralising for a squad than to suggest that some of them might be replaced. On the subject of consolidation, we will have to agree to disagree. I accept that Football is changing and that the goal posts are continually shifting, but within those parameters I think we do have time otherwise we will become a yo-yo club. But at the end of the day we can only speculate and Adkins and Cortese between them will have the final say |

As uaual, Nick you are making presumptions. How do you know for sure which player will make the grade in the higher level. OK, I admit there will be some but who? Do you have a Crystal Ball? I maintain that the third option will be that this season will be one of consolidation. If we do well and reach the playoffs or even do a Norwich all that will be a bonus. |
| News Comment | £15 Million For Alex ? Yes Please ! at 21:44:23
Either way we can't lose. Keep him or let him go. The one thing I would take issue with is that again Nick is putting words in the mouths of the fanbase. What he says makes sense but at the end of the day it is a personal view. |
| News Comment | Keep The Club Crest ! at 04:53:37
I have always thought it was a Disney Cartoon. Of course I remember the time when we had no badge and when we did it was the Corporation Crest and I didn't like that either. But if we do have to have a badge then whether I like it or not then I think we I have to go with the Corporation Crest. |
| News Comment | County Of Southampton at 23:55:43
After the establishment of Hampshire County Council following the Act in 1888 Southampton became a County borough within the county of Hampshire, which meant that it had many features of County but the governance was shared now between the Corporation in Southampton and the new County Council. There is a great source of confusion in the fact that the ancient Shire County, along with its associated Assizes, was known as the County of Southampton[43] or Southamptonshire.[44] This was officially changed to Hampshire in 1959 although the county had been commonly known as Hampshire or Hantscire for centuries. Southampton became a non-metropolitan district in 1974. |
| News Comment | Highpoints Of The Season Part 1 at 23:28:08
I have to say that at the time I was surprised. Obviously something was amiss within the club. The dismissal was an act of courage on Cortese's part, the appointment of Adkins even more so. Now in retrospect we can see what a monumental task faced Adkins. To overcome any resentment felt by the players and winning their confidence. Not only did he do it but won us automatic promotion with another mans squad to boot. |
| News Comment | Saints Have The Advantage ! at 22:29:09
I agree and if we do excell well and good. But really this year should about consolidation and if neccessary team building |
| News Comment | Is No News, Good News ? at 11:00:21
Personally, I think that was the longest, most boring arguement for something that you, Nick, have had for a long, long time. The term Paranoid springs to mind. |
| News Comment | Why The Delay In The Retained List ? at 05:33:23
It seems that in some cases you are to quick the criticise, Nick, I was still happy that Saints had gained automatic promotion and looking forward to next year. I thought the ' List came out quite promptly. |
| News Comment | Jaidi Staying ! This Means Departures ! at 10:31:04
I personally think that Jaidi has been retained because of his experienced. Adkins is clearly pursueing a policy of recruiting players with a future and if anyone is to go I think it will Seaborne. But I suspect Martin will become 1st choice ultimately. Promotion was essential 2010/11. For next year Adkins has two luxuries. 1 A summer to prepare and 2 Promotion is a luxury this year consolidation will be the priority. So Adkins will have time to prepare for a serious assault on the Championship the following year. Harding is someone who might considered surplus to requirments and Hammond is another who might be out of his depth in the Championship. Apart from that I think it will be a case of wait and see |
