Currently, Field is behind Hayden (which is why he came on for him against Coventry) as Varane is injured. Madsen always plays alongside one of them.
Knowing our luck, Hayden will get injured on Friday and we won't have an experienced replacement. I can't find a club injury update since early Jan, so unless Varane is due back this/next week, this seems a bit of a gamble.
Thing is, Smyth does go down too easily looking for free kicks but he is no different to lots of players across the leagues. Look at the penalty MK Dons were awarded against Grimsby yesterday and at Jack Clarke throwing himself to the floor for Ipswich, trying to get a 2nd penalty against Preston yesterday.
Agree with this but it also gives us options when more players (Chair, Burrell, Poku) are fit. Some games will suit 4231 more and some games will suit 442. It will be interesting to see what line up and formation JS goes with at Charlton on Friday, particularly if Dembele is out for a while.
Control isn't all about possession of the ball. In the Loftus IQ article that Clive referenced in his match preview, there is a section on Game Control which I found to be an interesting read. It suggest that you can still be controlling parts of the game even when the opposition have possession of the ball.
Lots of fines and bans issued for the final including 5 match ban for the Senegal manager, forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Sarr received two-match bans for "unsporting behaviour towards the referee", while the Senegal Football Federation (FSF) was fined a total of $615,000 (£444,000).
Morocco forward Ismael Saibari was given a three-match ban and fined $100,000 (£72,000), while defender Hakimi was handed a two-match ban, with one game suspended for 12 months.
A bid by Morocco's football federation (FRMF) to have the result of the match overturned after Senegal players left the pitch was dismissed by Caf's disciplinary committee.
The FSF (Senegal Federation) was fined $600,000 (£434,000) for breaches of Caf's disciplinary code, with half of that sum relating to the unsporting conduct of Senegal players and technical staff, while the other $300,000 was for the improper conduct of its supporters.
Several Teranga Lions fans were involved in angry confrontations with security staff after the penalty award, with some trying to enter the pitch.
A further $15,000 ($11,000) fine was imposed after Thiaw's side received five bookings during the final.
Meanwhile, the FRMF (Morrocan Federation) has been fined $200,000 (£144,000) for the "inappropriate behaviour" of ball boys at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, after repeated attempts to steal the towel of Senegal keeper Mendy from behind his goal.
A sum of $100,000 must be paid after Atlas Lions players and staff invaded the video assistant referee review area and obstructed referee Ndala's work, and the FRMF has also been fined $15,000 for use of lasers by its supporters.
