Watched Captain Phillips Yesterday
at 12:36 13 May 2014

Yes I agree that Captain Phillips is a very good film. I didn't think much of either of those Hobbit films to be honest even though I liked the original trilogy.

I have watched The Wolf of Wall Street and 12 Years a Slave recently and I will highly recomend both of these films.

Out of Curiosity, Who out there Plays No Video Games?
at 12:15 28 Apr 2014

I used to play a lot of Call of Duty and FIFA over the years (online multiplayer). It is quite easy to knock them if you haven't ever played them but they are very addictive for good reason, that is that they are very good. I generally used to play online with the same real life mates a few nights a week and was always an easy way to kill a few hours if needed, a bit too easy really.

I never played much on my own as the social side of it was more fun and this is what non-gamers don't really appear to get, especially all the various team games in Call of Duty. I took a break from it and haven't played for a good year or so now though, just got too much else going on and it does require a fair bit of time.

For what its worth I'm in my 30's and married as were the people I played with, a couple a fair bit older some younger. I never really took the p*** as far as the misses was concerned but I know I probably came close to it.

I'm 99% sure that 1985 album above would be the only one I've ever filled (possibly the season after), though I had cheated as my old mans mate brought me and my brother a few shop boxes full of packs of stickers.

Me and my brother both filled our books that same evening and I remember we decorated our wardrobe doors with the left overs & gave loads away to our mates.

At the time he gave us the boxes of stickers it felt like all our Christmases and birthdays had come at once as we filled our books so easily, but that year we didn't get the fun of "got, got, got, got, got, got, NEED!". So we missed out on the thrill of the chase.

Sadly I've never kept anything like this so no doubt it just ended up in a bin somewhere.

Apparently you would have to snort about half a pint of powder to get the same effect as about a pint. After the novelty wears off I cant see it really being a thing. (I know its not meant to be snorted, but that's basically whats bound to happen).

And today's present from the scum....

This article from The Secret Footballer put it pretty well, in that the Crystal Palace teamsheet would have been even easier to know beforehand... "Why? Because they had beaten Chelsea 1-0 in their previous match. And sure enough, when the teams were announced, the line-up was exactly the same."

selling off season tickets
at 17:23 3 Apr 2014

I agree they could easily cancel if they found out.

I also know that you can renew it in someone else's name easily enough as a good mate did exactly that with no fuss at all. The two of them went there in person to renew and handed in a written letter saying that the person selling would like it to be renewed in the new persons name, and the club didn't mind at all. This would be by far the better option as otherwise the seller could easily tuck the buyer up I reckon.

Goal line technology
at 23:24 3 Mar 2014

12 times is possibly including times where the ref has been unsure and it didn't give the goal, so basically nothing happened. Like when we were at Stoke when Bony's shot was cleared off the line & I looked straight at the ref who checked his big red watch but he didn't give the goal.

God Bless The Internet
at 23:14 3 Mar 2014

I've been regularly downloading films on the internet since I had my first 150k "broadband" connection back in 2002 (technically wasn't broadband, though ntl said it was). Back then it took me days to download a film but always meant we'd have a decent new film to watch every weekend. These days it's much quicker to illegally download a film than it would be to nip out to a blockbusters to rent one (well, if they even still exist?!) so yes I agree, god bless the internet!
