I'd agree about the 2 pointer from free play, but I can't for the life of me understand the logic of having the chance to kick 2 points for a free kick following a foul halfway up the pitch where there's no imminent danger of a score. Bring down someone just outside the area who might reasonably have a chance of scoring a goal and it's 1 point for the resulting free! Nuts. There's arguably more point in having a 2 point chance from a 45. That said. the rule changes overall have breathed new life into the football. |

Said after the Monaghan-Louth game I thought Monaghan were really impressive. Think they will most likely get the winner of the Dublin-Cork game in the quarters Can't be Donegal or Louth, can't be Kerry (who must play Armagh if they win), could be Cavan, can't be Down, could be Galway. I think they'd be happy enough with that draw, I think they'd beat Dublin or Cork. [Post edited 16 Jun 13:42]

Given they couldn't play Galway, Cork is the game Dublin would have wanted to avoid imo Brian. Are all games from quarter finals onwards played at Croke Park? |

Well if he presents like this on the council committee he's now on at H&F, it isn't going to help our cause. People will stop listening almost as soon as he starts talking. |

Not many, and imo none of it adds any credibility to him outside of his own head. There's more than a hint of David Brent in all of this. |

Still time to buy some money with 1/3 still widely available on him taking over. |

Limerick certainly had the best of the decisions. But can't say I'm upset that we'll see extra time. Fantastic game! |

Fairly ferocious first half in the Munster final. Thought Limerick were well in control up until the Cork goal, it's anyone's game now. Half time arrived just at the right moment for the officials. Think Limerick may well have enough. |

Where did I say I thought he was worth £10m? The point I was making is he is apparently on a long term contract, unless there's a release clause we don't have to sell him, so if someone wants him, particularly if two or three others apparently want him, make sure they pay us over the odds to get him. Set a precedent that says we won't be ripped off. Whatever his current "value" might be should really be irrelevant. For once we would appear to be in a position of some strength with the player, don't give it away cheaply. |

FWIW, and admittedly with a an assumption or two, as he has just signed a long term extension (my assumption being that means 3-4 years), then we shouldn't be selling him this season unless it's for silly money. That has to be well in excess of £10m. There's a lot of chat on here about establishing a model as a selling club where we sell one or two players each season for good money, so imo you don't want to be seen to as a soft touch. If we've got a player on 3+ years who looks like he he's got plenty of potential to improve, it's up to any club willing to buy to make us an offer we can't refuse. If it turns out that we keep him and he sustains a career threatening long term injury which drops his value going forward (a la Willock for example), that's just bad luck. The trick is to have three of four or more players with good potential on longer term contracts, so you're not putting all your eggs in one basket. All easier said than done, but that has to be what we aspire to. |

Monaghan very very impressive yesterday in beating Louth. Defensive workrate and efficiency just off the scale. |

I think with Brentford, it was a case of right strategy at the right time. It's not really been like that so much for any of the Championship teams since Covid, other than those teams who've been relegated out of the Prem. For sure, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't be trying to buy young and cheap and develop. But I don't think the market is really there to rely on selling 2 players a year for £5m or more. |

Frey is the only one we can't afford to lose to injury. We can shuffle the pack to cover anyone else, but no one else gives us what he does. |
